Member of senior leadership team and stood as the right-hand man of the CEO for multi-location software and hardware development company specializing in IT data protection applications for deployment in customer data centers, cloud environments, virtual machine (VM), and SaaS model implementations.  Played a key role in every major product and IT decision which included software/hardware/cloud application development, professional services, product QA testing, product support teams, M&A activities, patent research, business process/operational improvements, and talent recruiting.

Ø      Gained ~30% development department productivity improvement and cut customer reported support issues by implementing and/or modifying operational processes and disciplines including adopting agile methodology, support call tracking, change management, automated QA testing, and new product development stages.

Principal Engineer (Director of Software Engineering)

Leader of a software team for a start-up focused on developing next generation data center communications products featuring custom developed Ethernet semiconductors and standards-based software.  Drove software products in the areas of software development, program management, deliverable schedules, customer installations, and standards committee representation.  Company was acquired by Intel Corp.

Ø      Taught open source methods company-wide and submitted project source code to the Linux kernel and open source communities.

Ø      Reduced costs and accelerated bringing products from proof-of-concept level to GA quality by creating simulation tools, leveraging related external open source work, and focusing QA testing in appropriate areas.

Ø      Served as company representative to the OpenFabrics Alliance EWG standards committee.

Ø      Captured requirements and validated product prototypes by working in conjunction with high-performance computing (HPC) research teams at several U.S. National Labs.

Directed all aspects of the engineering and QA teams for four multiplatform product lines within the enterprise data center and telecom industries.  Orchestrated product management, strategic planning, budgeting, software development methodologies, and development over the full product lifecycle.  As Senior Software Engineer, performed as a key contributor and technical architect of software applications and device drivers.

Ø      Stepped up and assumed responsibilities of VP Server I/O Engineering for 2+ years and personally led development teams; direct report to CEO.

Ø      Implemented process improvements in the engineering and interacting departments, which produced predictable schedules, contained costs, and helped deliver higher quality products on time.

Ø      Spearheaded software product development, managed vendor relationships, and guided the marketing of the IPSec/SSL security co-processor adapter product line resulting in 2 major OEM design wins in the first year.

Ø      Championed the software planning, development, release, and maintenance of Ethernet, IPSec/SSL security, Fibre Channel, SCSI, and ATM board level products across Windows NT/2000/XP, NetWare, VxWorks, Solaris, and Linux operating systems.  Developed device drivers, protocol stacks, and user applications for many of these products.

Ø      Hosted and served in ATM and Fibre Channel “plug fest” events in coordination with The University of New Hampshire, which assured interoperability between industry vendors.

Ø      Served as representative to standards organizations such as the ATM Forum, SNIA, InfiniBand Trade Association, and RDMA Consortium.

Led the gathering of functional requirements, software design, and software development of essential core systems for products in the hotel and airline industry.
