Information Systems Manager
Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE). To facilitate Baillie’s executive reporting
requirements, Mr. Schlager was the lead architect who developed physical, logical, and presentation layer data
model in Star Schema’s to model to Baillie’s unique lumber industry requirements. Functioning for 10 years
as the lead architect responsible for building in-house systems. Business subject areas include executive,
finance, sales, transportation and GL/accounting. The primary/sole architect responsible for all levels of
extracting, transforming and loading (ETL). Worked directly with company ownership, controller, IT director
and all levels of senior management. Systems are deployed on an Oracle Fusion Middleware environment
running on a Windows Server. The OBIEE client, used for BI Administration and modeling, is run on
Windows. Created separate Oracle databases to support the BI product. Installed and maintained in a Red Hat
Linux environment. Identified as a best in class by the Oracle Corporation. Gave OBIEE presentation to
Oracle Users Group in Rochester, N.Y. office. Baillie Lumber is the premiere world-wide hardwood lumber
company, exporting lumber to over 75 countries around the globe.
Oracle Transportation Management system (OTM). Conducted a vendor analysis, then selected Oracle’s
OTM system (formerly G-Log), now call Oracle Logistics. Created an installed a three tier architecture system
on Apache, Tomcat, Weblogic and Oracle database servers. Responsible for all Linux administration,
installations and upgrades to the product. Operated as the lead database administrator (DBA) for the product.
Baillie exports via Ocean, TL, LTL, VAN, Multi-Stop and Intermodal Modes of Transportation. Baillie works
with over 500 trucking lines and all the major Ocean steamship lines to ship product. The OTM Logistics
package is a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.
Softshare middleware.
from legacy AS/400 ERP system to OTM in an XML format. Data was sent via HTML transport to a
Tomcat servlet running on the OTM system.
Salesforce CRM system. Business objective was to create a 360 degree view of the customer for our sales
representatives. Selected Salesforce as the vendor for implementation. Created data integration feed from
our internal system to Salesforce.com Cloud environment (SFDC). Installed Jitterbit software, which was
used to map internal data entities to SFDC objects. Created a document integration feed to send internal
PDF documents via a Base64Encoding format, to SFDC for presentation on the cloud application.
Salesforce is the industry leader in CRM software.
Technology upgrades. Introduced company to storage attached network (SAN) storage.
Installed Softshare software, (now titled Liaison). Move sales order information

SAN storage. Introduced blade server technology. Installed IBM HS22 blade servers, which were capable
of running both Linux and Windows OS. Created SAN boot to allow for failover and redundancy.

Senior manager. Business development and supervision of the FTN’s International Freight Forwarding, ECommerce,
Financial Development, Web Development, Unix Systems and Web Administration staff. FTN
operates as an NVOCC in Ocean operations, all well as FedEx Air. Business model is both import and export.
MQ Series System’s Administration, seven years plus experience. Pioneered the companies messaging
infrastructure using IBM’s MQ Series. MQ integration was setup internally on Sun Solaris, DEC/Alpha, IBM
AS/400 and IBM ES/9000 MVS systems. Multiple external MQ interfaces were established with U.S.
Custom’s, FedEx’s internal messaging backbone and large customers, such as Delphi Automotive, in Mexico.
Established backup/restore facilities on Unix platform. Day to day administration of Queue’s, Channel’s and
trigger monitor’s using the NT version of MQ version 5.3. Established Veritas Cluster agent to handle system
fail-over of MQ service application group to disparate backup/fail-over system.
Managed the rewrite of the companies Web site. Code base was deployed, on-time, within budget, over
several months in standard JAVA/J2EE compliant, cost-free software. Also developed the initial Java code to
send data to U.S. Custom’s using a server side Java application to send/receive data in real-time.
Capital projects. The renovation/upgrades to systems hardware and software in each of the respective groups.
Migration of Sterling Commerce EDI Gentran NT system to state-of-the-art hardware and software systems.
Migration of the International Freight Forwarding system to state-of-the-art Citrix and Unix operating
environment. Replacement of Unix Sun Enterprise Database Systems. Upgrade of Solaris O/S on sixty
operating systems. Several EMC upgrades to support 13 terabyte SAN storage environment. Upgrades to
production, test and development Oracle databases to version to 9i or 8i as required.
Re-architecture of the Web hardware environment. Deployment on standard Apache Web Servers, Tomcat 5.0
Application servers and Nortel hardware load balancing units.
Oracle high performance database deployment on high-end enterprise class Sun Solaris servers. Critical
databases deployed in Veritas Highly available (VCS) cluster environment, with in-the-box hardware
redundancy, and high availability fail-over capability to disparate systems.
Tape backup facilities. ADIC automated/unattended robotic units.
Excellent working relationships with external vendors and their local account representatives. Excellent
working relationship with FedEx national account representatives from the major hardware and software
vendors. Managed relationships with key vendors, consultants, licensees and affiliates.
Technical project lead in the consolidation of three disparate billing and accounting systems, all running on
different platforms, into one unified and centralized packaged financial system, Coda Financials, running on a
single platform.
Primary company interface between the FedEx Trade Networks and the Department of Homeland Security for
all Automated Export System communications.
