Pomona
College, Claremont, CA EXPERIENCE
SUMMARY John
is the Chief Architect at the leading Cloud Software Provider in the
Environmental Comppliance Management space. He has successfully lead the
architectural design, implementation, deployment and continuing maintenance
of the first Cloud solution in the Environmental/Sustainability space. This
application has enjoyed great success, including: -
Multiple Fortune 500 customers, including the majority of Utilities in the
U.S., major Chemical manufacturers, as well as Oil/Gas producers. -
Handling billions of distinct measurements monthly from customer SCADA
systems and other data sources. -
Tracking millions of safety incidents. -
Calculating and reporting GHG emissions. -
Flexibly handling local, state, and federal environmental regulations. John
has also lead the design of a new Environmental Finance application, which
highlights the potential and real value exposure in a business based on its
operations and products (including suppliers), and their effect on the
environment. This application has to calculate 4000+ environmental pressures
across 5000+ economic sectors and products, and their supply chain, at
multiple levels, in real time for customer analysis. PROFESSIONAL
EXPERIENCE John
has over 10 years' professional experience in design and development of
scalable Cloud (SaaS) software. Software
Design -
Designed and implemented a custom security subsystem with inheritable access
control lists, rights, users and groups, and policies. -
Designed a flexible "Open-Schema"
solution, allowing customers to model their own data structures, forms, and
fields in the Environmental Cloud solution. -
Designed a flexible Dashboard solution, allowing top-down publishing as well
as peer-to-peer sharing, of Environmental metrics, tasks, etc. -
Designed a flexible Workflow solution, allowing customers to model their own
business processes in the Environmental Cloud solution. -
Designed and implement a customer server-side calculation subsystem, allowing
clients to model their own environmental calculations utilizing billions of
SCADA and other industrial process measurements. -
Designed a unique customization capability of the solution's User Interface
using packaged, embedded "apps" based on HTML5 and JavaSript with
REST APIs. Software
Architecture and Development Python/Cherrypy/Numpy/Scipy/Redis -
Designed and implemented an economic/environmental sustainability calculation
engine, using Linear Algebra and GPU computations, a DSL for natural language
querying, sparse matrices, parallel queue based cluster computations, hosted
on Amazon Web Services. .NET/SQL -
Designed and implemented an in-memory calculation engine and formula script
parser that is now used to run custom calculations across billions of SCADA
and other industrial measurements. -
Designed a scalable asynchronous message execution subsystem utilizing
multiple publishers and subscribers. -
Designed a scalable database back-end architecture allowing for horizontal
scale out of database resources. -
Implemented custom lock engine for cross database and cross-application
synchronization. -
Designed and implemented an in-memory distributed and transactional object
cache. -
Designed and implemented a certificate based mutual authentication system for
cross-company trust relationships. -
Designed and implemented a message-based, queued and extensible platform for
cross-application and cross-company integration projects. Performance
Management -
Systematically investigated, monitored, analyzed, and resolved performance
bottlenecks with the data tier as customer use exploded beyond expectations. Technical
Project Management -
Lead Cloud integration efforts for major customers such as PG&E, Chevron,
DuPont, Sempra, Syngenta. Result: increased automation and pro-active
compliance management capabilities for the customers. -
Lead a software project that successfully rewrote PG&E's waste management
tool in .NET. Result: Increased productivity and performance, as well as
PG&E's commitment to the platform as its standard for compliance
management. -
Lead a project that successfully rewrote Syngenta's SERAM data collection
tool in .NET. Result: Enabled international access to real-time compliance
data for Syngenta's many facilities, and Syngenta's commitment to the
platform as its compliance platform of choice. -
Lead all major release of the flagship Environmental Cloud application since
2003. Result: Major increase in product's feature set, as well as major
increase in product's scalability and performance relating to data
calculations. -
Lead the project to create the first IHLCA driven Environmental Finance Cloud
application. TECHNOLOGIES
