Senior Manager / IT Architect - Enterprise (Jan 2010 - Oct 2015)

Provides cost effective infrastructure and application solutions and bring new capabilities to meet enterprise business requirements. Supervises engineering and development activities within the department. Provides leadership for enterprise application and infrastructure projects and owns infrastructure/cloud services.

 

·   Managed systems, storage, database & application platforms pertaining to more than 100 transaction and warehouse applications hosted internally, IaaS, Private cloud and in external hosting facilities. Experience working with AWS, Oracle Cloud, Azure & Rackspace.

·   Key accomplishment include; successfully leading technical delivery for critical global ERP R12 application platform. In this multiyear effort, had accountability from design to delivery for application, database, system & networks for ERP Env, its DR site, all integration and web access.

·   Removed $1M per year on hosting charges by driving a solution to create multiple ERP non production copies internally for projects using database virtualization.

·   Transformed the way we provision project environments by bringing in database virtualization to EA. This database self service capability brought efficiency to all key projects by eliminating coordination times, reducing storage costs and providing project teams with freedom to have additional environments.

·   Infrastructure portfolio includes managing env hosted in Oracle cloud services and IaaS and their relationships. worked closely with oracle private cloud implementation for EA services from sizing, network, integration, security and processes.

·   Key accomplishment: Enabled single Sign-On for global ERP by Architecting and leading implementation of Oracle internet directory. This brought savings upwards of $500k in hosting & license costs by implementing internally.

·   Emerged as a key crisis leader by successfully orchestrating recovery of a whole datacenter after major power failure, driven multiple application stabilization projects.

·   Key accomplishment: lead delivery of global multisite 2-factor EA authentication system implementation and integrated with Active directory. This eliminated SOX controls and failures and reduced an audit liability.

·   A storage upgrade and consolidation within the storage run budget is done by moving to fewer high performance storage to improve application performance. This also resulted in datacenter floor space savings.

·   Other infrastructure activities including database upgrade and consolidation to reduce foot print and achieve savings on license costs. System virtualization and migration to internal private cloud helped achieve higher hardware utilization, redundancy & lower foot print.  

 

Manager - Infrastructure / Lead Systems & Storage Engineer (May 2000 - Jun 2009)

Provides technical systems and storage  solutions to best meet application and business requirements. Supervises engineering and operations activities within the systems/storage department. Provides solution guidance and technical leadership for systems/storage implementations and projects. Defines, recommends and implements enterprise system and storage process and standards.

 

·   Managed heterogeneous systems and storage infrastructure of enterprise, online database and some studio applications spanning 7+ datacenters located globally(NA, UK & Singapore) to the upwards of 1000+ systems, SAN fabric in every datacenter, diverse storage devices.

·   Grew from 40 Servers in a datacenter to 1000+ systems globally located. Scaled a team of 4 systems/storage engineers to support without expanding headcount, to manage the expansion. This is done by ground up creation of new processes, support procedures, monitoring, automation scripts and pro active measures.

·   Developed a complex custom application to meet the demands of high volume internal mastering data transfer between 40+ internal and external locations using dedicated VPN to meet collaboration requirements of games builds.

·   Key accomplishment include: EA North America and EA Europe order to cash system's infrastructure & DR implementation. The infrastructure include 4 application environments with availability requirement of 99.99% and less than 1 hr RPO [recovery point objective].

·   Evolved order to cash DR testing process and pioneered annual testing for validating DR site readiness for business.

·   Key accomplishment include: introduction of Storage Area network[SAN] to EA and architected a multi datacenter storage fabric and orchestrated migration of systems and replication to the fabric transforming the way storage gets managed and allocated.

·   At the advent commodity intel 64 bit [EM64T] systems, influenced peers and delivered 64bit OS platforms for database environments to reap 100%+ improvement in performance.

·   Key accomplishment include: achieving high success in SOX control management. Designed and implemented SOX controls, associated process, mitigations and interacted with external auditors. SOX controls were consistently successful in my area of responsibility.

·   Delivered Implementation of automated Custom reporting ERP instance, daily synced from production instance from system & storage side using BC copies of EMC & XP storages.

·   Lead and managed system virtualization transformation by using cost effective Xen and Hyper-V options and designed deployment models, imaging standards & operational procedures. reduced application to HW foot print by 3:1 for certain applications.

·   Reduced application env storage usage by 70% using storage virtualization.

·   Implemented Security base-lining, monitoring and alerting using Tripwire, Guardium alerting for DB changes.

·   In a heterogeneous infrastructure foot print, over the period implemented many virtualization using VmWare stack, Redhat Xen & HyperV to achieve efficiency, cost reduction, multi tenancy, fault tolerance & environment statelessness.
