EXPERIENCE
CISCO SYSTEMS, RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC
Software/QA Engineer IV, SDU Cloud Systems
Aug.’10–Present
Cisco SDU (Systems Development Unit) charter is to create, validate and market architectures and end-to-end
solutions for service providers and large enterprises. Currently working on Cisco’s InterCloud fabric hybrid
cloud solution with multiple public cloud service providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, DiData, etc.).
• Led requirements gathering for Cisco’s InterCloud fabric solution in collaboration with engineering and
marketing teams. Developed system topology integrating Service Mesh with cloud components and created
detailed validation plan for testing solution around two use cases – capacity augmentation and application
development & test.
• Validated Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) 2.0 solution for enterprise and service provider customers
over layer-2 extension (OTV& LISP) between data centers using InMage Scout to provide service backups.
• Built, configured and deployed Virtualized Multiservice Data Center (VMDC) 3.0 in Cisco’s Cloud
Validation Facility (CVF) to enable customers to gain hands-on experience with technologies and solution.
The solution introduced FabricPath, instead of Spanning-tree, which offered better convergence performance
and higher layer-2 link utilization.
• Identified configurations for various compute and storage components, network elements (switches and
routers) and service appliances (load-balancer, firewall) to develop VMDC3.0 solution architecture in
collaboration with marketing team and solution architect. Delivered Cisco validated design along with design
implementation guide to enterprise and service provider customers.
• Designed and validated VMDC 2.1 service orchestration solution using BMC’s Cloud Lifecycle
Management (CLM) 2.1 software in partnership with BMC. Service orchestration enabled service providers
to deploy Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) from CLM 2.1 portal within minutes.
Software/QA Engineer III, ECATS
May’08–Jul.’10
Cisco ECATS (Enhanced Customer Aligned Testing Services) charter is to replicate customer networks in the
lab and validate architecture, design and technologies. As a foundational engineer, played a key role in growth
and expansion of the ECATS group within Cisco.
• JP Morgan Chase (JPMC): Collaborated with JPMC team and Cisco’s Advanced Services team in
understanding client’s network architecture and upgrade requirements. Developed test strategy and test bed
topology to validate interoperability of JPMC’s campus and data center network upgrade from IOS to
modular image. Delivered test report and hosted onsite visit for client to gain hands-on experience with
network operation. Demo was key in winning JPMC’s confidence and business in upgrading Cisco IOS.
• Citigroup: Conducted functional test and performance validation of SXH4 modular image for Citigroup’s
Global Shared Services (GSS) environment. Identified and resolved several software defects to help improve
product quality. This led to acceptance and deployment of modular image in Citi’s production network.
Software/QA Engineer II, NSITE
Aug.’04–Apr.’08
Cisco NSITE (Network Systems Integration and Test Engineering) mission is to perform system level test of
complex solutions spanning multiple technologies and products to accelerate successful customer deployments.
• Developed system topology and test plan for validating Intelligent Service Gateway (ISG) solution for
service provider broadband access network using Cisco 7206/NPEG2 router, Broadhop SME (portal & policy
server), CAR (AAA server), RSIM (Pre-paid server) and CNR (DHCP server). The solution enabled service
providers to take direct control of resources and network characteristics to deliver next generation services.
The solution was successfully deployed in a number of service providers’ networks.
• Performed quality assurance testing of multi-service delivery network solution for voice, video, data and
Metro Ethernet business services using different class of services (CoS) over same VLAN. The core
topology was built using GSR12000 platform with MPLS traffic engineering tunnels and FRR (Fast Reroute)
for node and link protection.
