Present Solutions and
Infrastructure Architect ·
Architected,
Designed and Built the AWS based infrastructure for the StarChat
platform. Connecting two Virtual Private Clouds via redundant VPN
tunnels using OpenSWAN which reroute traffic through available paths in the
event of failure. Currently implemented in Virginia and Oregon. ·
Deployed
multiple MySQL instances in VPCs connecting them together for regional NDB
clusters in local availability zones that also replicate cross region through
VPN tunnels. ·
Web traffic
for StarChat platform and WebAPI is distributed across multiple instances
using ELB, and across multiple regions using Route 53. Health checks
are utilized to prevent traffic from routing to systems experiencing issues. ·
Designed a
process that deploys new web server instances when a new build of the
application is ready, new instances fetch the application from S3 and add
themselves to ELB while removing members containing prior builds allowing for
a phased deployment. This process also monitors CloudWatch by polling
the API and will spin up new instances to handle increased load or spin down
instances for below average load. ·
Co-Architected
and implemented a telephony control system on top of Asterisk to allow our
dating website users to make phone calls to other site users without sharing
phone numbers. ·
Architected
and constructed a 16 server Postfix farm to handle notifications, advertising
and business email processes for our international dating sites.
Masking a Microsoft Exchange Cluster core behind multiple Postfix Servers
delivered over multiple public subnets to separate each site and company. ·
Streamlined
the build and deployment process leveraging custom build work flows in TFS
2012 that reduced actualization time from 2 hours to 4 minutes. ·
Developed
numerous Bash and Powershell scripts along with utility applications written
in C# to automate backup and disaster recovery of critical systems.
Nightly backups to S3 buckets with periodic archiving to Glacier for long
term storage. ·
Responsible
for ensuring secure coding practices and PCI Compliance for all ECommerce web
applications. ·
Serve as
Product Owner and Architect for StarChat Mobile, managing in-house and remote
development teams creating native iOS and Android applications for the
StarChat platform. ·
Orchestrated
and participate in a 24/7/365 Monitoring and Operations schedule to ensure
the maximum possible uptime. Monitoring of internal services and
servers using SolarWinds and Splunk with notifications sent via Twilio.
AWS monitoring using CloudWatch with notifications sent through SNS and SES. ·
Serve as a
conduit between other C-Level Executives, VPs and Managers to and from the
Software and Networking teams. Delivering the needs and concerns of
both in a language each would understand. ·
Converted
corporate email infrastructure from single IceWarp to redundant Microsoft
Exchange 2010 infrastructure. Migrated to Exchange 2013 in 2014, moved
into hybrid configuration with Exchange Online in 2015. ·
Created
testing environments to assist with Development and QA inside of Microsoft
Azure. ·
Manage,
Guide and Mentor Software and Network Engineering teams to increase their
productivity and work quality. ·
Architected
a restructuring of the network and server infrastructure increasing the uptime
to 99.94%, this was instrumental in increasing sales by $2.7M from $14.4M in
2010 to $17.2M in 2011. ·
Control a
$1M annual resource budget, with responsibility for over $3M hardware and
software assets. ·
Performed
project management over multiple new business ventures being executed by
outsourced development group. ·
Spearheaded
migrating 3 Software Development projects in various stages of maturity from
Waterfall to Agile. Focusing on delivering production ready software
every sprint, decreasing time to market. ·
Reduced
licensing costs by $240K by consolidating load across underutilized systems
and migrating similar processes to Linux from Windows based machines. ·
Reduced
operational overhead by $150K annually through renegotiating longstanding
contracts and relocating outsourced services in-house. Global
