Web Development

·               Managing all web/mobile applications development efforts, including corporation/e-Commerce web site atmel.com, Business Process Management system /BPM, SDL Tridion Content Management System/CMS, Salesforce CRM system and ModelN Sales System. I also manage Akamai CDN, OKTA for MFA and SSO, Service-now ticket system and MS-SharePoint.

·               Successfully delivered AP/PR (invoice approval/purchase requisition) business workflow system on SAG BPM platform. It reduced 40% of cost for processing invoice /purchase request, and it significantly improved business productivity.

·               Re-designed corporation Web site to a fully UI responsive Web site (http://beta151967.atmel.com). It provides customer with smoother browsing experience. Applied .NET MVC 4 and SDL DD4T technology to the new Web site for better maintainability with better SEO.

·               Successfully delivered product case support system and Sales CRM system in Salesforce Service Cloud and Sales Cloud platform. Implemented support ticket automatic distribution engine and integrated email to case premium solution for Atmel service cloud. Implemented Community Web site in force.com which can be SSO to from Atmel.com. Also migrated solution articles and FAQs to Salesforce Knowledge Base.

·               Successfully migrated Atmel.com Web site and its back bone system SDL Tridion CMS system from premise datacenter to AWS Cloud. Integrated Alertlogic WAF with AWS ELB to provide additional security assurance for the Web site.

Enterprise Architecture

·               Established Project/Change architecture review as a PMO process. Reviewed both application and infrastructure architecture design for projects. Delivered System Architecture Specification (SAS) Document for each system.

·               Successfully designed/delivered CMDB /CMS system in service-now. It was used to maintain inventory of services, applications, software, hardware, licenses, warranty and vendors. It was also used as central repository for applications and servers’ configuration.

·               Led effort of implementing MFA for VPN and SSO for SAAS applications by using OKTA service.

·               Worked with CCO to upgrade SharePoint from version 2007 to version 2013.

·               Designed and implemented a distributed Subversion system as IT source control system.

·               Managed Tech check project to conduct internal Microsoft licenses audit.

Cloud Infrastructure

·               Managed both public Cloud (Amazon Web Service) and private Cloud (VMWare vShpere) infrastructure, managed more than 100 EXi hosts and 1000+ VMs.

·               Established tagging standard and weekly resource consumption audit process in AWS. Implemented automation process of provision, EC2 start/shutdown schedule, performance/bill alarm and weekly AWS report. Successfully cut down AWS monthly cost from 24k to13k.

·               Upgraded private Cloud back bone system vSphere from 5.5 to latest version 6.0U1b. Implemented vCAC to automate VM provision, which is similar to AWS. Integrated with service-now orchestration feature to automatically kick off VM provision process from a service-now change ticket approval workflow process.

·               Researched Hyper-Converged Technology and vendors, including Nutanix, Maxta, Simplivity and vSAN. Used ROBO vSphere and ROBO vSAN to solve redundancy, stability requirement for small site/branch office which had budget limitation.

Managed Web development team with 4 Web developers, Enterprise Architecture team with 2 Enterprise Architects, and Cloud infrastructure team with 4 Cloud engineers with operation/projects budget $3.5M/year. These 3 teams have 10 staffs in 4 geographic locations, including San Jose, Colorado Spring, Germany and Penang of Malaysia.

Client Web Trading Team (2009 ~ present), Line of Business Tech Owner, Architect

·               Managed a staff of 6 onside software engineers plus 10+ offshore developers in India with $900k operating budget to enhance and support Account domain of Schwab.com which consists of over 20 applications and is available in multiple languages. Accountable for the availability (99.99%), stability and responsibility of these applications on the web site. Tech Owner of Initial Public Offer (IPO) platform, Targeted Messaging platform (CRM), Open Financial exchange (OFX) platform, Google internal search platform, Content Lead Engaged Online (CLEO) platform and OPIL platform, which are complemented systems of schwab.com. Responsible for team building, vendors selecting and offshore development management.

·               Managed & design Cost Base Lot project, which allows investors to choose the cost base method for their transactions. First time introducing .Net MVC2 to Client Web Trading platform. Established a MVC2 design standard, which allows developers to divide a MVC2 solution in two projects, Model project and UI project. In the meanwhile, designed a dynamic overlay UI component by combining JQuery, JQuery UI and .Net Technology. It becomes a standard overlay UI component for the whole site.

·               Managed industry wide OFX-OCC project, which allows clients of Schwab to download financial transactions with new option symbols through Schwab OFX platform. Successfully completed the project within limited resource and budget.

·               Managed & designed Bank to Bank Online Transfers project, which allows clients of Schwab to transfer fund between Schwab’s HYIC accounts and HYIS accounts. The product reduced 9,000+ customer calls and saved hundreds thousand dollars per months.

Core Team (2006–2009), Principal Engineer

·               Re-designed Charles Schwab online trading website with .NET 2.0 technologies, seamlessly converting the exiting website from Java platform to .NET platform by applying Web Service technology to avoid significant changes of existing backend system. This project (Greenfield project) lasted for 4 years with cost more than 55M.

·               Designed Software Development Life Cycle process for Schwab.com to achieve 2 weeks release cycle, including designing .NET development guideline, developer code merge window, automated continue integration test and QA release verification test window.

·               Led Web site performance improvement project to improve schwab.com page load time. Reduced page load time for some critical web pages from 5.5~6s to 2.5~3s by Optimizing front-end and backend code. Furthermore, by using Akamai network caching technology, the whole Web site average response time reduces more than 1s.

·               Designed Schwab on-line chat project with vender LivePerson. It allows customers to online chat with Schwab representatives and results 5000 more new customers and $150M more revenue to Schwab annually.

·               Worked in Bangalore in India. Trained 20+ developers of Wipro with new Technology.

Quotes & Research Team (2002–2006), Tech Lead

·               Migrated Schwab.com from C/CGI technology to J2EE technology by engaging IBM Websphere Application and IBM Http Server technology. Introduced Web Service in Java technology to new the platform.

·               Designed Schwab Portfolio Trade system, which annually accumulated $360M trade amount. First time applied Web Service Technology and home grown RRBus Technology to trading application in schwab.com platform, Identified the security issue of the Web service and helped Web service provider (SCORE) to build the Authorization module. ·               Participated the Google IPO project, managed development checkpoints status, and developed customer qualification control subsystem of IPO shares auction platform.
