Contracted to the DOJ, Office of Justice Programs (OJP) in Washington, DC. I supported the entire enterprise LAN/WAN.  Responsibilities included NAS and SAN Storage platform operations and support.  This included capacity, performance and technology requirements planning, server and SAN builds, configuration, testing and deployment of servers and NAS/SAN Storage and Data Protection systems using leading-edge snapshot, nearline storage backup and data mirroring technologies.  Exposure to various storage vendor technologies, including NetApp FAS 2000, 3000 and 6000 series, as well as Brocade and Cisco IP and SAN switch configurations, OnCommand System Manager.  These NAS/SAN platforms were used to host, protect, and mirror classified, sensitive mission-critical data to remote COOP site locations using snapmirror and mirrorview technologies.

MBR Computer Consulting Inc.: Sr. Network Engineer  05/06-12/06

Contracted to the U. S. Department of State Headquarters in Washington DC. I performed hands on support for the Command and Control messaging systems for all international and domestic US Embassies and Annexes.  Key role in architecting a new Command and Control messaging system that included the design and building of a 100-plus SQL server farm hosted by 4 180TB NetApp iSCSI SANS providing both local and COOP site production operations.  Responsible for building the new SAN platform to include capacity planning, LUN mapping, networking as well as configuration management and deployment.  The system design featured MSCS clustering of Exchange servers for High Availability on the front end as well as SAN snapshot backup technology within the Microsoft VSS framework, and full data mirroring and D/R solution at the remote COOP site.

ITEQ Integrated Technologies Inc.: Sr. Network Engineer04/01 – 05/06

Contracted to the U. S. Department of State Headquarters in Washington DC’s Network Control Center,  supported all Classified and Unclassified Email Communications as well as Command and Control messaging for all international and domestic US Embassies and Annexes, utilizing communications equipment, Firewall Security systems, Cisco Router networking systems, and 100+ W2K / E2K (Exchange 2000/2003) -based backbone, message-routing servers.  I designed, analyzed, configured, tested, installed, deployed, and integrated electronic messaging systems platforms and Storage and D/R platforms in the state-of-the-art communications/control center.  The platforms included W2K3 (Active Directory) / W2K / E2K3 / E2K / E5.5 Windows and Exchange database systems which comprised the hub for an 87,000+ user worldwide network.  I was also responsible for, and performed the following:

·   Design and construction of a 9000+ user W2K/Exchange 5.5 user messaging/NetApp NAS storage system.  Included a multi-domained and multi-server Exchange Site comprised of 30+ MS Exchange mailbox servers.  Responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing a complete data storage/backup and disaster recovery NAS for this NT / Exchange messaging system, including local site Disaster Recovery (D/R), Data mirroring and D/R to a remote COOP site.

·   Design and construction of an 8TB NetApp iSCSI SAN solution.  Included hardware setup of storage devices, fiber channel cabling, Cisco Router gigE configuration, RAID configuration, kernel and OS configuration.  Installation and configuration of all SAN software to include local data backup/archiving, offsite data mirroring and local and offsite D/R.  The SAN was configured to provide local site data protection using block-mode database snapshot backup technology, offsite backend database mirroring, disaster recovery contingency planning, and local and offsite data backup/archival/retrieval systems.

·   Migration of the 9000 user MS Exchange 5.5 Site NAS to this new MS Exchange 2003 SAN solution.

·   Built, configured, and deployed an enterprise Tape Backup platform using a 130 terabyte robotic tape library deployed to perform daily backups of the 100+ Windows and Exchange messaging backbone server environment.

·   Performing overall project analysis and implementation of a large migration effort to transition the Dept’s entire unclassified email System from a “multi-platform” messaging environment - including Wang Office, CC:Mail, MS Mail - to a “single-platform” messaging environment of native Microsoft Exchange 2003 only.
