Cloud Integration Solution Architect for a Federal Agency CIO office

·         As a Cloud Integration Solution Architect, lead a Focus Group of Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to develop an integration and deployment strategy. Whereby customer’s On-Premise systems and infrastructure services are integrated with Amazon Web Services (AWS) On-demand Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) IT resources within AWS Availability Zones (Web Hosting Environment) containing the following AWS services; Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Elastic Load Balance (ELB), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Simple Storage Service (S3), Elastic Block Store (EBS), Cloud Trail, CloudWatch, Web Services Application Interface’s (API’s) and Identity and Access Management (IAM).

·         As a Technical Lead of the CTO EA Team I facilitated the development and build of an CTO Enterprise Architecture primarily focused on Enterprise Identity Management Service (EIMS) with Multi and Single Level Security (based on ABAC topology) and a Cloud Architecture Portfolio of 27 services defined by X as a service such as; Data-as-a-Service (DaaS), Network-Storage-as-a-Service (NSaaS), Provisioning-as-a-Service (PROVaaS), Security-as-a-Service (SECaaS). The Cloud Portfolio is defined by a set of Capability Views representing each Cloud Service in the form of CV-2’s and CV-4’s; with internal functionality within each service, as well as, the dependency relationship between Cloud Computing Services. In addition the Capability Views were used for functional GAP Analysis and to support the build of Cloud Services Use Cases and Workflows as part of the solution architecture design to be simulated and validated within the Cloud Computing designed CTO Enterprise Lab for which I designed engineering models and define the implementation strategy for a virtualized; Linux Red Hat, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix, VMware Horizon platforms.

Team Lead Technical Architect for the Office of Chief Technology Officer (OCTO)

·          As a Solution Architect serving as member of a technical collaboration team of Engineers; Systems, Security, Transport, Network and Data Center Operations tasked with the Life Cycle Design and the Procurement through Implementation/Deployment of the ITA Multi-Tenant Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Pilot. The VDI Pilot is designated as a baseline for a Enterprise Solution to provide Desktop as a Service (DaaS) to the U.S. Pentagon Building and the Head Quarters Dept. of Army (HQDA). The VDI Pilot is being designed, developed, and constructed on "Cloud" principles with the Consumer Services being managed by vCloud, with the Platform Services being managed by VMware based on PC over IP (PCoIP), and the Infrastructure Services are being managed as a Virtualized Hosting environment built on a "Point of Delivery" (POD) engineering typology for scalability.

·          As the Lead of a Technical Architect team of (3) we develop Segment Architectures composed of various architectural artifacts and, work products based on DoDAF v2.0 and, UML behavioral Models which includes preparing briefings to stakeholders and executive management of ITA and Joint Chiefs of Staff for concurrence. I also served as a member of the Enterprise Architecture Governance Focus Group representing the CTO. I provided consultation in the development of the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) Technical Roadmap (TRM). o        DoD Cloud computing technical framework including;

§         taxonomy of cloud computing terminologies based on NIST definitions applied to DoD environment,

§         use cases and requirements of functional capabilities to be provided by OWF, and

§         DoD cloud service definition and identify qualification criteria for each type of DoD cloud service;

o        An overarching DoD cloud computing portability/interoperability reference architecture to show how DoD applications/services and associated data can be ported from one cloud service offering to another cloud service offering, and how different DoD clouds (e.g., enterprise cloud, C/S/A provided clouds and commercial clouds dedicated to DoD) interface and interact with each other for resource pooling from multiple clouds and data synchronization to support the interoperability of similar categories of cloud services. The reference architecture shall leverage standards developed by NIST and other standard organizations;

o        The DoD cloud computing transitional solution architectures with implementation plan for realizing the DoD cloud computing portability/interoperability reference architecture following the DoD evolution path from 1.x to 3.x which will include;

·         As a member of the SA Monitoring team of the Operational & Maintenance project group; tasked by the USCIS Transformation Program Office (TPO) to design, develop, configure and implement an enterprise cross domain monitoring system targeting: Networks, Servers, Applications, Database, and System Integration activities using a suite of OPNET tools called: ACE “Live” network throughput monitor, Panorama application transactional monitor, and ACE Analyst a packet analyzer. The enterprise is comprised of the following domains: Development environment, System Integration Test (SIT), Functional Quality Test (FQT), Training environment, System Acceptance Test (SAT) and a limited area of Production environment. The USCIS Electronic Immigration System (ELIS) is virtually hosted (VMware) with WebSphere Portal on Unix (AIX), Solaris, Linux, Websphere, and Microsoft (2003) servers with Oracle 11g backend that includes the solution components of: Seibel Suite, Documentum Suite, Tibco Suite, Informatica Suite, Oracle/OBIEE, Adobe LiveCycle, Informatica and Java Development Suite. Designed, engineered, and implemented an enterprise level incident notification alert system for technical support groups. Designed and implemented domain monitoring dashboards and service level agreements (SLA).

·         Designed and maintained conceptual, logical, and physical architectural and engineering diagrams and models for monitored systems domains across the USCIS enterprise using Rational suite of tools such Clear Case and Rose. Designed, Developed, and implemented monitoring reports for management and support teams.
