Summary:                

I am a senior infrastructure technologist that has architected, designed and built data centers globally over the past decade with fortune 100 companies.  My core knowledge is networking with knowledge in server, storage, services and facilities to bring together and lead enterprise data center teams.

Last year and over the next few years I will be heavily involved in software defined infrastructure and software defined networks (SDN) in support of ephemeral cloud compute.

I also have experience in the financial sector as a network engineer designing and building low latency environments, server farms, trading floors, connectivity to financial exchanges, mergers/acquisitions and generic 3rd party connectivity.

Software Defined Infrastructure

Comparing multiple SDN (Software Defined Network) solutions and to automate vxlan with Neutron plugins including Cisco ACI, ADARA, PLUMgrid, VMware NSX, Arista fabric and Cumulus fabric to host Openstack Juno. 

Designing and deploying multiple cloud footprints for ephemeral java / tomcat workloads in 2015 for vendor independency across multiple data centers.  Vendors include Rackspace, Redhat, Cisco, HP.  Also starting to review open box solutions for 2016 such as Quanta, Cumulus and various other open vendors.

Certifying and deploying nexus 9k’s to replace nexus 7k/5k/2k infrastructure in the enterprise server farms.

Data Center Technology Manager – Lead Infrastructure Design Engineer for CDC Data Center

Managed and Lead multiple technology teams as a Technology Manager. Teams included Storage, Networking, Server, Security and Network Services to design, budget and build the first major data center for Walmart in 10 years.  The data center included new designs for DMZ, Server Farms, Mainframe, Virtualization Infrastructure and a new Data Center Interconnect.  Also worked on several co-locations in support of Walmart’s initial cloud footprints.

Responsibilities also included reaching out to teams globally and unifying Walmart designs for better ROI and standardization globally. 

Server Farm Design

Designed Walmart’s NGN Server Farms and networking solutions for Cloud systems based on Cisco’s Nexus platforms leveraging Nexus 9k, 7k, 6k, 5k, 2k fabric.  Code certified and load generated traffic with Spirent to verify the server farm design stability and capability of handling future UCS, HP and IBM deployments.

Vendor Connectivity Solution

Designed Walmart’s Vendor Network that terminates all credit card authorizers for POS systems and any third party vendors working with Walmart.  Saves $1M yearly reoccurring moving to MPLS.

Reviewed new technologies such as Fabric Path, OTV, Nexus 7004, Nexus 6004, VINCI Architecture, Brocade Platforms (FCIP) and Trill. Refreshing with SUP2, M2.

  JPMORGAN CHASE (BANK ONE CORPORATION) - Columbus, OH

Vice President/Senior Network Engineer

Cloud Network Engineer

Lead networking engineer for all virtual desktop deployments and investigating alternative cloud computing technologies.  Activities included working with ESX/HP/Cisco UCS Blade Server teams and investigating Cisco's NGN (Next Generation Network) utilizing Nexus, ASR platforms and VMWare.

Low Latency Trading and Trading Floors

Lead networking engineer responsible for the development and design of Trading Floors in New York, Tokyo, Chicago and London. Tasks include creating and documenting the design, testing the design at the Cisco Proof of Concept lab in North Carolina and communicating and teaching the design to CCIE's globally.

Designed low latency server farms for Reuters Market Data applications, electronic trading environments and large multicast infrastructures (over 3,000 simultaneous mcast groups).  Designed and implemented a new infrastructure to terminate external Business Partner Feeds such as Reuters, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and Bloomberg etc. Designed and deployed a PC Blade environment to allow Traders to trade from home virtually in case of a disaster. Solutions were based on 10gig technology using Cisco Supervisor 720 on 6509 chassis.'

Mergers and Acquisitions

Co-lead and deployed the first merger/acquisition solutions for Bank One including Circuit City Credit Card and Zurich. Both acquisitions were the first mergers for Bank One after in-sourcing all technical staffs. The design and process created during these mergers was used again as a blue print for the first virtual private network to JPMorgan Chase during the merger.  

Vendor Connectivity

Helped design the first external connectivity solution for Bank One. The solution included pricing, product offering and a database to track each install. The solution was recognized by IBM as a highly scalable and flexible solution. The design is currently used by the combined organization worldwide.
