Cloud Architect/Systems Engineer

· Designed and built one of the largest (if not the
largest) public cloud deployments of vCloud Director 5.1(7000+ orgs) as a
white label service for one of the foremost virtualization companies on
Cisco UCS. Since release the environment has approximately doubled in
size monthly, and has had minimal issues.
· Migrated clients from multiple datacenters and
hardware platforms into a single suite and on to Cisco UCS. Designed
and implemented a plan for a customer that was downtime sensitive to allow
us to move their entire environment with less than an hour’s downtime (20+
VMs and several TB of data).
· Administered existing public cloud on vCloud
Director 1.5.1, including migrating it to the new suite. Resolved
issues related to the backend Oracle database.
· Designed and implemented solutions for new
customers, including P2V migrations of existing environments.
· Worked with security contractors to identify the
source of a security breach, and was personally responsible for the
preliminary determination of the identity of the individual. Was able
to track his movements through systems and identify key nodes for forensic
analysis, saving the company over $100K.
· Resolved issues related to the security breach,
including working with clients and vendors to rebuild/restore VMs, resolve
issues related to SANs that had been factory reset, and overall health
issues in the infrastructure environment. Assisted customers in
repairing impacted environments with corrupted domains and Exchange issues,
including large scale migrations to new Exchange servers (1000s of users).
· Assisted clients in troubleshooting issues across
a broad spectrum of platforms and software, from issues related to website
latency due to inefficient MYSQL queries to failed AD Role transfers.
· Provided an escalation point for support staff and
junior engineers, and functioned as the Senior Systems Engineer for the
engineering team underneath the technical Engineering Manager.
