PROFESSIONAL

ACHIEVEMENTS

PRINCIPAL CLOUD ARCHITECT

  · Assisted in the development of a commercial public cloud offering

that supports thousands of customer VMs. The infrastructure consists

of VMWare vSphere hypervisors running on Cisco UCS hosts, and

NetApp shared storage. The solution has three main nodes located in

Phoenix, Ashburn, and Amsterdam.

  · Developed and implemented a Virtual Private Datacenter offering

that leverages VMWare vCloud Director and vShield Edge to provide

customer multi-tenancy and site-to-site VPN capability. Utilized

features such as AutoDeploy and host profiles to greatly reduce the

amount of time and effort needed to deploy new compute nodes.

  · Regularly works with customers to gather business requirements and

constraints for potential private cloud deployments. Utilized VMWare

Capacity Planner to help collect data off of existing physical machines

and properly scope the necessary resources in the new virtual

environment for these customers.

  · Drive the design of customer oriented solutions primarily using

VMware vCloud products. These include but are not limited to: ESXi,

vCloud Director, vCOPS, vCenter, Chargeback, and AutoDeploy.

  · Articulate the steps and changes a customer must make to effectively

deploy and exploit private cloud and ensure they are ready to deploy

hybrid cloud solutions as appropriate.

  · Assume the role of a mentor to other system engineers when

appropriate

  · Designed and implemented an internal vSphere environment to

house all internal corporate servers. Converted 97% of all existing

physical machines to virtual machines greatly reducing the overall

datacenter footprint.

  · Designed and implemented a “Proof of Concept” deployment of

VMWare View VDI desktops. This deployment utilizes WYSE terminals

for client connectivity, and Teradici PCoIP offload cards in the hosts to

improve overall throughput by reducing vCPU load on the virtual

machines.

  · When necessary perform a full current state analysis of a customer

environment to scope the necessary hardware configuration needed

to support the virtualization plan.

  · Present Cloud Computing solutions and benefits to Managers and

Director Level prospects as well as Systems Managers and

Administrators.

  · Actively pursuing the elite VMWare VCDX certification.

INFRASTRUCTURE ARCHITECT

  · Designed and deployed the existing multi-site multi-domain Active

Directory forest.

  · Designed and deployed the existing Microsoft Exchange

infrastructure. Later virtualized that same infrastructure. This includes

services to provide anti-spam/anti-virus capabilities.

  · Designed and deployed the existing Microsoft Lync (originally Live

Communications Server, then Office Communications server),

environment. Later virtualized this entire environment. The system

currently supports large multi-site, multi-country Video and VOIP

meetings on a daily basis.

  · Designed and deployed the existing Microsoft SharePoint service as

virtual instances.

SYSTEMS ENGINEER

  · Deployed a system to monitor hundreds of physical customer servers

with various services. The system would follow a notification

escalation procedure based on associated rules.

  · Worked with customers daily to resolve issues and plan future

deployments.

  · Deployed a system to monitor network abuse complaints and

automatically associate those complaints with a specific customer.

  · Participated in numerous datacenter migrations that involved

hundreds of customer systems.
