SUMMARY:
I have over 20 years experience as a multi-discipline design/drafter leader and technical liaison, excelling in
public and private sector work relating to civil/structural building techniques, 115kV–500kV high-voltage
substation component layout (helping with procurement and logistical project concerns) and creating a union
between colleagues, clients and community.
EXPERIENCE: (1993 to 2014):
2013-2014: Magnusson Klemencic Associates, Seattle WA
Revit Modeler Specialist
· Received architectural specifications and drawings for 50+ story high rise buildings from world
famous architects (Architeqtonica, Pelli, WCIT Architects) and furnished with necessary structural
model elements. This included the implementation of structural analysis (moment/shear /finite
element analysis).
· Well versed in the fundamentals of BIM (Building Information Modeling) concepts and how they
apply to graphic elements, schedules and sections/details on large scale projects. The drawings were
used for multi-million dollar cost estimates and bid set documentation.
2010-2014 Puget Sound Energy, Bellevue WA
Microstation Designer–Civil/Structure and Electrical Substation Design Groups
· Primarily using Microstation 2D/3D to create bid sets and specifications for modernizing and
upgrading Western Washington’s substation distribution power grid according to IEEE 1426
clearance standard.
· Created documentation for crews to implement new high-voltage transformers, GIS (Gas Insulated
Switchgear), breakers, neutral reactors, capacitor banks, circuit switchers, grounding mats,
conduit/feeder plans and civil mitigating features.
· Work resulted in higher power substation efficiency, higher reliability and improved maintenance and
safety features.
2009-2010 Aerotek Engineering, Bellevue, WA
Contractor: Microstation Designer - Civil/Structure Substation Design Group - Puget Sound Energy
· Quality of work resulted in full time employment with Puget Sound Energy.
2008-2009 Callison Global, Seattle, WA
Design Technology Specialist-Design Technology Group
· Technical advisor/troubleshooter for Architectural/Interior Design Studios globally (Seattle, Shanghai,
London, New York) using AutoCad and Microstation.
· Contract work: Demonstrated efficiency in upgrading high-voltage substations.
· Facilitated construction crew work through technical documentation in accordance with Puget Sound
Energy Standards.
· Mentored staff to implement company-wide standards and “Best Practices” for all firm-wide projects.
· Helped senior architects become computer savvy.
· Technical Translation of architect/interiors projects and streamlined functionality/interoperability between
applications for optimal work flow – resulting in helping the design team’s vision and dreams to coalesce with
innovation.
· Enrolled in Callison University’s LEED Building Certification Standard classes in hospitality, retail and
healthcare (by LEED AP Building Design + Construction, USGBC Certified Professionals).
1999 - 2008 R.W. Beck, Seattle, WA (Bought by SAIC)
Civil/Electrical Substation Manager/Lead Drafter
· Managed (2) Leads and (4) multi-discipline drafters. QAQC’d (Quality Assurance, Quality Control) production work.
· Hired drafters and mentored entry level engineers per principal’s request for specific needs and demands.
· Conferred with principals regarding expenditures, reviewed and adjusted timelines as needed.
· Researched, specified and advised the latest tools and software to improve design team efficiency
· Implemented vector, raster, LIDAR and PLS-CADD (Power Line Systems - Computer Aided Design and Drafting)
for transmission/substation bid set documentation.
· Consulted with in-house civil engineers on geo-technical data and civil mitigating features.
1998 – 1999 Karla Keel Group, Seattle, WA
AutoCad / Microstation Drafter
· Self taught Bentley Microstation.
· Combined drafting efforts with KPFF Consulting Engineers for the Port Of Seattle’s SeaTac Southwest Expansion.
· Drafting for University of Washington’s historic Hec Edmundson Pavilion – 220ft post-tensioned supertrusses.
1997 – 1998 Big Sky Resort, Big Sky, MT
Night Auditor / Volunteer Ski Patroller
· Consolidated and posted daily revenue for Resort’s daily financial activities
· Worked with EMT’s learning life saving techniques and applied mountain safety regulations.
1994 – 1997 Elton/Thompson Engineers
Hand Drafter / AutoCad Drafter / field as-built
· Structural Drafter for Caesars Casino Parking structure, Atlantic City.
· Music hall renovation – The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and Performing Arts, Philadelphia.
· Blockbuster structural drafter for east coast stores – David Robert Crawford Architects.
