Senior Designer

Evaluate CATV systems for upgrade, prepare specification for design in Lode, design and draft CATV systems, layout fiber distribution network, produce materials and provide equipment ordering information.  Communicate with system engineers to coordinate and track plant extensions. Responsibilities include:

 

•              Create and execute project work plans and revise to meet changing needs and requirements.

•              Communicate with customers and field engineers.

•              Distribute areas of project responsibility, track and monitor progress of junior designers.

•              Review work of junior designer for quality assurance purposes.

•              Ensure project documentation is complete and current

•              Prepare spreadsheets, diagrams and drawings for customers.

•     Control workflow from inception to product shipment, producing a high quality deliverable to client.

 

 

Base Mapping Project Manager

Produce street maps for use in as-built, drafting, design, upgrade and maintainance of CATV systems in the US and internationally. Responsibilities included:

 

•              Extract, convert and project USGS 1:100,000 DLG and many other source files into Acad using a data conversion program.

•          Use my understanding of the GIS environment and of most major map projections to create AutoCAD drawings, which would be ready for future conversion to a true Geographic Information System.

•          Produce printed map sets, shipping manifests and invoices.

•          Shipping and project tracking.

•           

 

Database Project Manager

Produce database of customers incorporating address location, system equipment servicing address and CSG billing information. Responsibilities included:

 

•              Develop procedures, evaluate and debug programs, develop database format, mine data from system maps, use SQL to match customer data to data mined from system maps.

•              Develop customized tool bars, macros, and developed software requirements for lisp programming to streamline data mining process.

•              Test macros and debugging lisp programs.

•              Maintain the file server to optimize workflow.

•              Train drafters in best practices and procedures.

•              Assign areas of project responsibility, track and monitor progress of drafters.

 

 

Product Research and Development

Research, evaluate and recommend new software. Develop products, applications and tools for demonstrations to potential customers. Responsibilities included:

 

•      Research available base mapping data from USGS and other commercial providers.

•      Research and evaluate Marianus software for converting mapping data to Autocad drawings.

•      Research usefulness of tiger address database for use in future mapping projects.

•      Evaluate new versions of Autocad, Lode data, Mapinfo and Mapinfo mobile applications.

•      Explore the use of USPS zip plus four data to streamline customers marketing efforts.

•              Develop a product demonstration using Mapinfo which integrated customer maps and database into a user friendly application with uses from marketing to field maintenance.
