Position: GIS Technician/Information Systems Specialist

              My work mainly focused on natural hazardous risk analysis and tsunami inundation mapping. I developed a number of datasets for a hazardous risk impact study on state owned buildings. This project required geocoding, digitizing, statistical analysis of assets, QA/QC of feature geometry and attributes, and the spatial analysis of natural hazards. My work on the tsunami inundation project gave me an opportunity to work heavily in a team environment. This project had a heavy emphasis on cartography and graphic design.  Other projects I worked on included georeferencing Tsunami inundation zones, analyzing correlation of radon levels to geologic features, stream gauge mapping, and stream line delineation.

The majority of my work was split between the management of the cities geodatabase, and the mapping of the city’s public utility systems.  This position also required me to help in the development of the city’s web based GIS, which gave me an opportunity to work on the development a website and with ArcServer.  As a result of my time working on these projects I gained a considerable amount of experience with programming languages, and the power of using web services as a platform for GIS Services.

Position: Ground Field Manager/LiDAR Operator

              Set and planned survey control for aerial based LiDAR Imagery and photographic mapping projects.  I provided post processing data analysis, quality control checks, managed field operations, and trained personnel on survey techniques as well as data interpretation. I also operated LiDAR systems, which included monitoring and maintaining high accuracy data collection.  This position required project management and planning, training employees to use GPS stations, daily communication of field operations, and operating remote sensing equipment.

Work included drafting maps and developing a relational database for the cities maintenance on water and electrical lines.  The position assisted the engineering department in the planning and cataloging of private utility maintenance that impacted the public’s infrastructure.  This position required me to develop geodatabase, and to communicate database design and schema to the engineering department manager.
