first year of training was all hands on, no calculators or electronic
equipment, hand drafting, transits, Gunter's chain, long hand calculations
for curvature of the earth, temperature, lat and long etc. Our GLO instructor
worked for the Forest Service so we had many field trips into the wilderness
of Montana searching for GLO Corners, HES Corners, Witness Corners, etc. The
second year was all electronic AutoCAD, Total Station, Traverse PC, GPS, EDM.
I was on Job Study and worked with my instructor learning digitizing and GIS.
