This position gives a deep understanding of how fiber is placed in different locations under different circumstances.  The work done on an independent basis was throughout all of California and parts of Texas.  A strong background in fiber is required in order to maintain business relationships with clients.  Cities such as Hollister, Gilroy, and Porterville are examples of the work performed.

Project Manager:  This position included direct involvement with specialty projects for Cal Trans and CATV rebuild projects in Southern and Northern California. The plans included highways and installing fiber in the city of Monterey.  The Project Manager was in charge of all supervision for work crews in outside plant construction.  The construction included both copper splicing and fiber optic splicing.

Operations Manager: Main responsibilities lied in assignment, scheduling, and management of multiple installation crews at project sites.  The Manager’s task included LAN cabling installation of fiber optic and coaxial placement.  Testing of all systems to EIA/TIA standards was an essential part of the Manager’s work load. In addition supervision of work breakdown structure, job cost summaries, and change orders were a part of the assigned tasks to the Operations Manager.

Site Forman/Fiber Splicer: Responsible for assignment and scheduling of crews at multiple sites.  The task load included all aspects of fiber splicing, termination, and testing. All work was outside plant construction that was overseen by the Foreman.

Site Forman/Cable Splicer: The responsibilities included for the Site Foreman/Cable Splicer was the scheduling and assignment of multiple installation crews at projects sites. The crews were in charge of all LAN cabling testing, trouble shooting, and turn up of systems.

Journeyman Cable Splicer/Forman/Estimator:  EBC Integrated Solutions employed the Journeyman Cable Splicer through an acquired company called KV TELCOM Inc. Employment as a Journeyman Cable Splicer on outside plant work orders for GTE and Pacific Bell followed shortly after.  This role was then graduated to the position of Forman.  The Foreman’s duty involved directly supervising a crew of cable splicers and their scheduling.  The next promotion to the Estimator position included estimating all splicing functions of work orders.

Apprentice Cable Splicer/Journeyman Cable Splicer:  The field of cable splicing was learned as an apprentice while employed at Harris McBurney Company.  In the duration of employment, a promotion to Journeyman was achieved.  This position included being capable of completing both “C” and “M” style work orders for outside plant construction.
