Architectural Design Technician in Facilities Management for the State of Texas

 

Architectural design of remodeling of TXDOT facilities for the north region of Texas working in Facilities Management.  Responsible for all PS and E’s ( Plans Specifications and Estimates) of small to large projects, responsible for all CAD work, design, specifications and estimates of steelcase modular furniture, design floor space for personnel relocations, project management of all my projects, plan,specification development and supervision of contractor bid process and subsequent supervision of contractor’s performance, interior and exterior utility relocations,site planning, new use planning of buildings and grounds, participated in SOP, Standard Operating Procedures for regional development, developed  ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act training, literate in all MS Office Suite Software, 25 yrs. expert in MicroStation V8i, ProjectWise, ArcMap.

Microstation Cad Technician (FTTP),                                 June 2004 - October 2004

Designed fiber to the premise (FTTP) for Verizon.  This includes posting all work order information and work prints for large subdivisions, placing splitters, hubs, fiber cable, and terminals for Verizon. Also, initiated help tickets and did material reports through ICGS.  The primary programs used are IDDS and Microstation J to install and design Verizon’s telecommunications fiber network and associated data.

Microstation Tech – Equip. Applications Eng.,                  January 2001 - February 2002

Responsible for the development, drafting and occasional engineering of equipment standards, installation packages, cabling and cable standards, posted to the Intranet by using Microstation and Adobe Acrobat.  Equipment Nortel switches, Cisco routers, fuse panels, power and grounding.  MCI WorldCom’s installation packages were designed using Microstation and published on the intranet via Adobe Acrobat.  I was responsible for the management of all CAD functions.

 

IP Communications

Responsible for engineering installation packages for customers of IP Communications DSL service, to include installation of Lucent Stingers and card modules.  Assisted field installers with technical support and supervised all CAD functions.  I engineered special projects to include rack superstructure steel design with 3D isometric rack assemblies in Visio CAD Software for our client Ameritech, connectorized cable details, cable design, cable drawings and vendor equipment drafting of front planes and backplanes for connectivity. Special projects overseen were incorporated into installation packages using Visio CAD Software to develop a large DSL Network for IP Communications.  Telecom Business Systems Software was used extensively for provisioning circuits, installing cross connects and engineering connectivity of equipment.

Microstation Tech – Equip. Applications Eng.,                  February1997 - April 2000

Responsibilities included the development and publishing of engineering standards and installation packages, new equipment, field verification (FVO) and unique project installations.  Additional projects were Federal Aviation Administration (FAATSAT), which included a mobile satellite downlink and FAA remote facilities.  The emphasis on these projects was the on-site physical equipment integration and connectivity to include cabling, power, floor space and functionality of the facility with as-built plans. Also designed building power, auxiliary power and -48V power.

Outside plant drafting providing fiber ring design and documentation for Northern Telecom.  This project was part of the joint venture between Avantel and MCI in Mexico.

Civil site design of telecom facilities, site planning, architectural facilities layout, equipment layouts, duct banks, rack face layouts, and support for network engineering, as needed. Repeater/regenerator design to include equipment layouts, power, grounding, panduct, cable ladder and cable entrances.  Outside plant long haul fiber route design to support regenerator sites.  Additional experience includes Central Office Engineering (COE) provisioning of floor space for equipment.  MCI’s very large junctions and terminals required in depth study to develop build-out forecasts for five (5) year future planning.
