1996 I was responsible for base mapping, research, field
work, manhole detailing, and final design of conduit and cable
drawings. Involved in 75% of all company projects, especially the
really difficult ones. I quickly became the most valuable asset to the
company I became my boss’s “fastest ship”. After the decline in
projects from our client, Pacific Bell, I was the last employee to be
laid-off out of 35 employees. Reason for leaving: Lack of work Southwest Contractors: August 1996 – May 1997 I then worked for Southwest Contractors, drawing
construction plans for fiber optic loops around cities like Fresno,
Bakersfield, and Knoxville Tennessee for Brooks Fiber Communications. I
was responsible for the drawings in the 39 mile fiber optic loop around
Knoxville, Tennessee. Reason for Leaving: Closing of Engineering
Department City of Palmdale In 1998 I proposed a plan to map into Autocad the
entire City of Palmdale which I did so successfully in surveyor precision
using their current tracts and records using their Tracts and Records of
Survey. Volt Information Sciences: May 1997 – April
2001 Mainly doing cable and construction design for
replacements of worn out S.A.I. for Verizon. The project was later
extended to USwest where I worked in Colorado and Arizona doing S.A.I.
replacements and Drawing complete conduit and cable drawings for placements
of U.S.A.M. (Universal Service Area Interface) throughout Phoenix
Arizona. Also included many other projects for Verizon and other
clients. Reason for Leaving: Lack of work HCI Inc.: May 2001- January 2002 I was hired on with HCI in Mira Loma California in
May of 2001 as an Outside Plant Engineer. Most of my projects there
involved complete design of projects to the customer’s specifications, mainly
Verizon and Southern California Edison. It was my first opportunity to
deal directly with the customer where I found I had good customer ration
skills, coordinating with both the customer and corresponding
municipalities. Also gave me a chance to design my own traffic
control plans to the municipalities’ expectations. Status: Currently on leave of absence to
complete schooling. Lack of work due to major downturn in
telecommunications industry. Marmac Field Services: April 2002- Novermber
2002 Responsible for researching, compiling information
for base-mapping involving large projects for clients such as Southwest Gas
and Kinder Morgan Oil. Assisted Engineers in completion of final
product to clients utilizing Autocad 2000. I was laid off in November
of 2002 for lack of work. Real Estate: November 2002 - 2007 Due to the lack of work in the Telecommunications
Industry and the I decided that I had to look for other means of
income. Though I have learned a lot in Real Estate that will benefit me
the rest of my life I still miss the satisfaction of getting permits for an
elaborately detailed fiber or copper job. The recent downfall in Real
Estate and the Resurgence of the Telecommunications Industry will perhaps
give me an opportunity to get back to Tel-com. Verizon: June 2007-2008 Quality control engineer resonsible for the
inspection and grading of project relating to FTTP being turned in to Verizon
from other Vendors. The work included intricate knowledge of mostly all
of Verizon's internal system including ICGS. Also responsible for
handling Delayed Requests, Creating and pricing work orders in RAMS and
ICGS. Responsible for creating permit drawings and virtually all new
traffic control plans. Tesinc Florida: August 2008- November 2008 Senior FTTP engineer responsible for fielding,
coordinating, designing, reviewing, permitting, and pricing of FTTP overlay
projects in Florida. Reason for Leaving: Our main client cut their
budget due to current economic crisis. Cam Communications: December 2008 – Present Manager or Right-of-Way, Permits. Responsible
for all permitting to every agency where permits are needed including
Encroachment designs, and Traffic Control designs. Responsible for
training entire permitting staff and answering to the client. Responsible
for creation and implementation of permitting Methods and Procedures. Looking for change because: Lack of work has
forced me to look elsewhere for other opportunities. . Personal Qualities: I work well with other people even under pressure or
difficult situations. I also work well with clients and
municipalities. I consider myself to have a very good work ethic which
I take very seriously. This means that I arrive on time, leave on time,
am hardly ever sick, and when I come to work I come to work. I have a
squeaky clean record. I've never used any illegal drugs in my life and
I've never even been arrested (odd thing to include in a resume but
considering the world we live in today…) My easy going personality and
drive to get the job done has done much to impress past employers and clients
alike. At age 36 I have learned and come to appreciate the importance
of honesty, integrity, and hard work as elements that make this great prosperous
system of ours work. Thank you for your consideration, I hope to hear
from you soon. Sterling 909-680-9354
