Director of Engineering and Construction

Responsible for managing the engineering, construction, field operation, and maintenance organizations for a ‘quadruple-play’ service provider.  These services included VOIP, IPTV/ cable TV, WIFI, and high speed Internet over Power Line. Designed, engineered and constructed point-to-point GigaBeam 70 GHZ, 1.25 Gbps Ethernet Wireless Fiber system including ISP build out to commercial and residential multiple dwelling units (MDUs) buildings in the New York City metropolitan area.

Operated and maintained services for the subscribers in four regions utilizing a team of four managers and 20 technicians. In addition, utilized and maintained DOCSIS modems for high speed data transmission.

 

 

10/04-09/05      FiberTower Corporation

Director of Engineering, New York Region

Managed the engineering department for a leading alternative provider of facilities-based backhaul services for wireless carriers included Sprint PCS, Cingular, and T-mobile in the New York region.  Responsibilities included the design, development, engineering, and implementation of a hybrid RF/fiber cellular backhaul network connecting wireless carriers cell sites using 11, 13, 18, and 23GHZ Harris and Ceragon Microwave radio systems. This application included the delivery of packaged DS3 and STS-1 circuits to customer’s switched locations over leased circuits from various third party fiber service providers (FSPs).

As Regional Director, conducted vendor selection, price negotiation, and SLA agreement for leasing  DS3, OC3,  and OC12 circuits from other third party fiber carriers in New York City and Northern New Jersey area. The circuits where leased from designated cell sites to carrier Hotels: 32 Avenue of Americas and 111 Eight  Avenue in Manhattan, 882 Third Avenue  (Bush Terminal)  in Brooklyn, and 165 Halsey in Jersey City, New Jersey.  These providers included:  MCI, Verizon, Light path, Con Edison, RCN, AT&T, MFS, and AboveNet.

Provide technical and project management expertise in engineering, installation, construction, operation, maintenance, various applications. 8/01-9/02 L. Robert Kimball & Associates

Senior Telecommunication Consultant

Responsible for the project management, engineering, and construction of the outside and inside plant (ISP/OSP) fiber optic cable for a 350 location Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) transport system for a large municipal government. This system provided data, voice, and video services using a SONET based Multi-Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) architecture using DWDM technology.

As a senior member of the engineering and operation team conducted technical negotiations for obtaining T1 facilities and SLA agreement with third party provider: Comcast. Also negotiated  agreement for purchasing a dark fiber loop in downtown Washington DC from Allnet communications.

 

 

3/96-4/01              RCN Corporation

Director of Engineering and Construction

Responsible for managing the engineering, construction, field operation, and maintenance organizations for a large bundled service provider.  These services included telephone, cable TV, and high speed Internet over a SONET fiber optics and HFC network to over 300 residential multiple dwelling units (MDUs) as well as over 150 commercial high-rise buildings in the New York City area. Conducted technical negotiation with third party provider Qwest communication, obtained and managed fiber facilities from New York to Boston and Washington D.C. Conducted all technical negotiations with FCC with regard to all regulatory issues. Conducted and reviewed all frequency analysis.

Operated and maintained over 500,000 passing units and 100,000 subscribers in seven regions utilizing a team of 12 managers and 50 technicians.

 

 

3/92-3/96              Liberty Cable Company (acquired by RCN Corporation in 3/96),

Director of Engineering and Operation

Responsible for managing the design, engineering, construction, operation, and maintenance of a CATV system to residential MDUs and commercial buildings in the New York City area through the efficient development of a high capacity short-haul private microwave network. Designed, engineered and constructed over 300 point-to- point 18 GHZ  microwave links. Conducted all technical negotiations with FCC with regard to all regulatory issues. Senior Director of Engineering and Operation

Managed the engineering and operation department for a nationwide common carrier telecommunication company.  Responsibilities included the development, deployment, operation and maintenance of dedicated point-to-point data services to interconnect leading financial and business customers' data centers and technical facilities utilizing an optimized common carrier digital microwave network. Designed, engineered, constructed, and maintained over 400 point-to- point 18 and 23 GHZ “Ericsson Mini-Link” digital microwave links with DS1, DS2, and DS3 capacity  nation wide.

Interconnected company network to leading  carriers at major Carrier Hotels in New York City. These locations included 60 Hudson street,111 Eight Avenue, and 32 Avenue of Americas. Negotiated and signed SLA agreement with leading providers: AT&T, Sprint, MCI, Telesphere, and AllNet, Negotiated, signed, and constructed co-location space in Hotel-Carriers in New York City, San Francisco, Detroit, Chicago, and Dallas.

Designed and implemented 10 GHZ Point-to-Multipoint NEC microwave radio system utilizing 4-way sector antenna system on the roof of the Two World Trade Center serving  financial companies and brokerage houses in New York City. 

Build and maintained switch network at 60 Hudson Street and “Two World Trade Center” for local loop applications.

Managed engineering and technical operation departments in New York, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, and Detroit, utilizing 12 regional managers and over 40 engineers and technicians.
