This includes outside plant, wireline, wireless and WiFi  project planning, capacity management, design, engineering and implementation. I have performed many different aspects in disaster recovery.  I have deployed as needed in emergencies(real emergencies and exercises) . Project managed the building of various network elements to be used in the event of a catastrophic emergency(Fiber optic cross connect trailer with beginning capacity of 10,000 cross connects).  Obtained funding for several projects in the layer 3 part of the network(Trailer build and element procurement of New Cisco CRS-X routers).  Managed the funding, design and build of projects for network elements being newly introduced into the network. This position also requires constant learning and research on new network elements being introduced by vendors. These are for SDN, Cloud computing, Common Backbone and layer 1,2,4, Mobility and Uverse.  Researching all facets of the network is an ongoing endeavor in this job. This knowledge was maintained to be able to facilitate growth in the field(cell towers) or bandwidth increases due to user devices increasing demands for services. Performed sites visits, rode cable routes, located cable and other utilities to provide the best, most cost effective solution. Responsible for engineering public WiFi networks throughout the United States.  Implemented sales requirements and built a network installed on the customers premise.  Ensured network coverage and integrity.  Used the Cisco 2950 and 3508 switches, access points, antennas, and POE.  Engineering of sites required knowledge of structured cabling, AC power, DC power, POE, Ethernet capabilities and limitations, floor space planning, racking, environmental concerns, labor agreements and local codes.  Completed the Cisco Aironet Wireless LAN Fundamentals and Cisco Wireless Site Survey.   Engineered sites that involved simple networks to complex network sites (i.e. Barnes & Noble).  This involved several buildings and hundreds of AP’s (i.e. Mills College in CA).  The Freedom link WiFi product was a new offering by SBC.  This involved the development of a process flows and methods and procedures.  The process was used to mainstream sales and engineering for the product offering.  Developing the Process Methods & Procedures required coordination and testing with external departments and vendors.  Contributed to the development of these Methods & Procedures.

Responsible for engineering Data Packet networks, switch and transport technologies.  Each of these involved different types of equipment throughout the Central Office environment.  Required working knowledge of AC & DC power, structured cabling, reading blue-prints, racking, floor-space planning, load bearing, equipment capabilities and limitations.   In 2003, installed the Nortel DPN 100 Data Packet Network, using X.75 protocols for customer alerting and ATM data packet transmission.  Responsibilities included the installation, test and turn-up of circuits and equipment in 5-states and 17-locations.  Responsible for capacity management and maintenance of the network.  The Nortel DPN 100 replaced the Tymnet Packet Switch network in 5-states and 200+ locations.  Retired $40M in equipment and disconnected 12,000+ circuits.  In 2004, removed 3-Lucent 1A offices in St. Louis.  Each office contained a line capacity of 35-45k lines each.  During this removal, was responsible for power, grounding, environmental concerns, building concerns and community relations.  Each office required 50-70 tractor trailer-load removals.  Worked with Lucent 5ESS and Nortel DMS 100 switches.  Responsible for managing the maintenance and capacity of equipment, as well as the transport technology within the various markets.  This technology involved implementing Rapid Deployment Sonet Rings, Tellabs DACS, Fujitsu FLM (150, 600, and 1200) and Adtran TA3000 repeaters.  Worked with ILEC's installing DSL systems in co-located space’s.   Received training from Telcordia, Network Traffic Concepts. Managers Camp, (CFL), DMS Supernode Hardware Architecture (Nortel), Telcordia Accounting for Equipment Engineers, Floor Space Planning for Engineers, and Lucent ES5010 5ESS Switch Architecture.
