Perform quality assurance on installation of Copper Mountain, Para dyne, HP switches, Cisco switches, and Orinoco & Cisco wireless equipment. Supervision of sub-contractors: evaluation of contractor construction price quotes, engineering drawings, and site surveys. Supervision of field operation technicians: maintain time sheets, and maintenance operation procedure logs. Perform yearly evaluation of field technician performance. Oversee maintenance and upgrade of Ethernet and DSL networks. Oversaw construction and installation of FIOS on two military bases in the mid-Atlantic region.

Service Activations Engineer I (06/00 – 06/01)

 

Evaluate, design, activate, implement, test, and perform isolation and resolution for DSL, ATM, IP, and Base (T1 & DS3) services. Perform these functions across network facilities including Edge, Aggregation, and Core Central Office equipment and NAS CPE.  Perform necessary escalations with Bell and other Vendors.  Demonstrate competence to work at the highest technical level on all phases.  Analyze Turnstone CX100 Loop Tests for load coils, pair gain, voltage, bridge taps, etc.  Configure Lucent MAX TNT DSLAMs for proper Frame Relay and ATM DLCI/VPI/VCI settings. Duties included: Install SONET OC-3, OC-12, OC-48 equipment, turn up and Commission SONET equipment, prepare cabinets and install transmission equipment in them. Run coaxial, fiber and power cables. Dress cables in accordance with industry standards.  Test power, data and fiber cabling.  Install electrical power and battery backup equipment for transmission systems. Conduct and maintain equipment inventory. Familiar with many types of test equipment such as optical power meters, optical time domain reflect meter, TTCT-Berd 305/310, optical lasers and voltmeters.  Perform engineering tasks as directed.  Conduct site surveys and generate site survey reports, installation drawings, bill of materials, installation/testing/cutover plans and procedures.  Perform installation/de-installation management tasks as directed.  Tasks include providing on-site installation management, monitoring work progress, and coordinating activities between customer, installers, local Telephone Company, and home office.  Stage equipment and materials, review and confirm system design and make required redline changes.  Coordinate with the local Telephone Company regarding rate tables, interfaces, and trunk facilities.  Lead the installation of subsystems in accordance with the Qwest Installation Plan and Site Survey Report.

Multi-Media Technician (01/98 – 06/99)

 

Provided digital switch design/engineering, implementation, and integration support for PBX telecommunications systems in the Bell Atlantic telephone infrastructure.  Installed, maintained, and repaired, multi-channel satellite communications ground terminals, systems, and networks and associated equipment.  Certification administered by the Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association on behalf of the B.E.S.T program.   Installed, contained, troubleshooting, repaired, tested, coved, and rewired residential telephone systems and equipment.  This included telephone instruments and equipment such as ISDN, ringers, cords, jacks, plugs, transmitters, extension bells, buzzer systems, etc.  Locates, diagnoses, and corrects open, crossed, short, and grounded circuits caused by various faults.  Tested lines for continuity, clarity and volume.  Laid jumper cables, cross connectors and cables to connect associated auxiliary systems and power sources. ACCOMPLISHMENTS (Verizon):

 

Fort Belvoir Project:  Responsible for supervising sub-contractors in performing site surveys, and gathering detailed information, in an effort to create a design to implement Verizon Fiber Optic Services (FIOS) infrastructure on a military base for the first time.  FIOS is a bundled internet access, telephone, and television services which operates over a fiber-optic communications network.

 

Field Technician Support:   During the times of Verizon strikes, and due to my technical background, management assigned me to work in the field as a Technical Technician.  My duties included:  Installed, maintained and/or repaired network facilities, and associated apparatus from the station equipment to the line card.  Interfaced with customer to further analyze installation and repair issues.  Effected repairs and restored service outages.  I also performed cable pair recovery requirements.  In doing this job, I utilized various test equipment to analyze equipment troubles and took appropriate maintenance action(s), etc.

 

Portfolio Management: Responsible for managing the dimensions of the Verizon fiber optic network in the Mid-Atlantic Region for developer portfolios to 205 residential Single Family Unit (SFU) and Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) properties, making a total of 54,524 residential units ready for FIOS services.
