After being “on PRIM” at Verizon for 3 years.  Kenton Group offered me the position as Field Manager for their engineering office located in Tampa Fl.

My responsibilities were to manage work flow for approx 35 engineers, 2 project managers and 1 quality control engineer. During my time in this position Kenton Group held a contract with Verizon FTTP program and engineered and permitted the routes for fiber Optic distribution cables for approx 700,000 homes since 2005. Our office has also managed engineering contracts with Windstream, Centurylink, and Qwest for fiber optic and copper facilities. I participated in most bidding processes with Kenton Groups Senior Sales Executives and Operations Director. In 2009 Kenton Groups was awarded a 4 year contact with Verizon Core BAU engineering Group. I was responsible for maintaining a core group of 9 engineers and drafters that were qualified and proficient in Copper engineering for projects such as Copper migration, Obligatory Road Moves, IOF routes, TLS sites and MDU/MTU upgrades. Our local staff held once a week meetings for progress, quality, and training for these engineering and drafting associates. Part of my responsibilities as Field Manager was to report to senior executive’s weekly profit and loss statements.

Jul 2005- Sept 2008    Kenton Group/ Verizon                                                                    Tampa                                                                                     Network Engineer

Employed at the request of Verizon engineering manager to coordinate engineering & construction revisions for ongoing FTTP projects.  After 1 year, was asked to work “on PRIM” as a contract employee for Verizon.  Responsibilities include working with construction crews and field inspectors to coordinate any changes that need to be made on existing design, Quality control for engineer redline drawings and permit applications covering 6 wire centers, pre-field and complete site survey assessments for MDU & MTU designs.

Employed to engineer Verizon’s FTTP overlay projects throughout Hillsborough county.  Responsible for doing pre-field inspections for existing utilities, design layout , and permit packaging for fiber network system .

Collecting topographic, geologic and boundary information for engineers for land development.

Proficient in use of Topcon Instrument, TDS, TDS II, and Ranger data collectors.

Initially employed as “rod man”. After 3 months promoted to instrument operator and after 1-year promoted to party chief. Duties were to gather survey information for in-house engineers regarding elevations, angles, and boundaries.

Construction Inspector

Assist engineers from Progress Telecom to locate feasible routes for future co-location sites to existing fiber rings such as ASCI fiber net, FPL fiber net, and Epik.  After design completion, was responsible to employ local contractors to complete routes from backbone to co-location.  Also worked closely with in-house fiber splicer’s helping to complete projects by delivery dates.

 

Nov 1999-Feb 2000      Volt Telecom.                                                                        St. Petersburg

Project  Manager

Overseeing all work being done by 17 subcontractors and 5 in-house crews for the completion of a fiber ring being built by XO Inc. in northern Hillsborough County.  Responsible for all invoicing of subcontractors and completion of all “as-builts” for completed work.  Liaison between Volt and Bectel with XO Inc. for any additional work or changes made to fiber ring.

Area Manager

Employed t o help field and design approx. 145-mile fiber ring for FPL Fiber net.  Worked in 3 man groups to field 3 miles a day.  After 3 months, was asked to take over as area manager for the remainder of the project.  Duties were to supervise 3-3 man crews and to inspect their work daily.  Worked closely with utility companies and permitting departments (city, county, and state).  Project completed in 6 months.

Redline/as-built Coordinator

Responsible for verifying the completion of all aerial and underground construction for G.T.E.M.V. project.  For correct footages to specifications to be submitted for as-built and billing purposes.  While in this position I created a comprehensive production tracking system.  This system was used for tracking the percentage of completion for individual nodes, job cost analysis, and was used by sub-contractors for their weekly invoicing.

Quality Control Inspector

Duties included inspecting all phases of aerial and underground construction to document poor workmanship or work not meeting specifications. I was then offered and accepted the position of Aerial Construction Supervisor.  In that capacity I planned and coordinated the daily workload for 12 aerial crews.  Also responsible for interviewing and hiring all lineman through the local union.  Personnel responsibilities included training new employees on system specifications and conducting employee performance evaluations.  With the growth of the company, I then accepted a position in the engineering dept.  Duties were to inspect all phases of construction to complete “as-built” maps to be used for billing purposes.
