o Stabilize Network & restore Vz W’s faith in the Network (375+ Towers)

·            Analyzed the paths of every Ethernet circuit in the Network, directed the rearrangements, Network was stabilized in 2 months, brought Network construction to successful conclusion

1973-1999- Bell Atlantic – Integrated Planning Manager (Engineering) – Absecon, NJ-Managed 15 geographically dispersed subordinates & 10 indirect subordinates

·            Hired as an OSP Engineer- Promoted twice-retired as Engineering Planning Manager

·            Hand selected to be one of three “Integrated Planning” Managers in NJ (1992-1996)

o        Responsible for planning for all 3 Engineering disciplines: OSP, Transport & Switch

o        Preparation and administration of $110 Million Capital Budget

·            Program Managed the largest single OSP Project ever attempted in NJ: Barnegat-Wildwood Fiber Optic Span: 34 miles of conduit, 81 miles of fiber, crossing of 4 major water ways (1987)

o        Entire project completed in 4 months & significantly under $8 Million budget

·            Led the multi-disciplinary team that successfully cut over the Delaware Valley Tandem Office (1995-1996)

o        Only team in Bell Atlantic to meet original cutover date

·            Led the multi-disciplinary team that moved all Toll circuits to Optical Fiber-based facilities (1994-1997)

o        First all Optical Fiber based LATA in Bell Atlantic

Engineering Expansion

 

2012-2014 Windstream Communications (WIN) – Director Program Management

·   Quickly came to up speed on limitations and capabilities of the Cyan and Cisco Ethernet transport equipment

·   It was apparent in what portion of the Network  DWDM and CWDM products were being used

·   From past experience, knew the intricacies of fiber optic deployment and the installation, turn up and integration of transport facilities into the Network

·   Acted as Quality Control on all Engineering work including FiOS Single Family design prints, FiOS MDU planning & design, Fiber to the cell site (including conduit construction) and copper removal work

·   From the beginning was always given the assignments involving new technologies

·   Designed the second copper-fed Digital Loop Carrier System in the state-well in advance of any guidelines or practices

o   Facility was smoothly put into service

o   Prints and documentation were adapted as the state standard

·   Very closely supervised the design of the first fiber optic cable and fiber-fed Digital Loop Carrier System in southern NJ

·   Directed deployment of the first SONET Rings in NJ

·   Refused to deploy TR-303 Switch technology despite tremendous pressure from Corporate Staff

o   Felt the Operational difficulties were not even partially thought through and deployment would have been a huge mistake

o   All other Planning Managers fell in line with this take to the question

·   Worked extremely closely with subordinates on all Tandem Cutover issues

o   It was first exposure to Switch Technology, but were the only team in Bell Atlantic to cut the Tandem over as per the original schedule
