Outside Plant  Engineer  (1982 – 1994 & 1998 – 2012)

Outside Plant Design Engineer with total responsibility for the design of fiber to the premises (FTTP) that involved the development of detailed work plans to provide Outside Plant facilities for the provisioning of Verizon services utilizing all types of plant including aerial, underground, buried, and submarine cables.

·    Designed and coordinated the completion of placing Fiber to +200 Cell sites.

·              Designed, planned, and obtained state and local permits / approvals to build an IOF interoffice fiber network that connected 4 offices enabling Verizon to accommodate the next generation of 4G and cell phone wireless service in 25% of the time.

·              Lead Engineer of a team of 5 that successfully completed the engineering design for FTTP for the town of Belmont, MA (10,000+ households) and Acushnet, MA (15,000 + households) within 18 months, delivering both projects on time and on budget.

·              Outside Plant Engineer with assigned specific Wire Centers of different sizes, designed and coordinated completion of work orders to provide growth for new developments (residential and business), maintenance and repair work orders and custom work. Included were providing facilities for POTS, High speed internet, Transparent Lan Service, Ethernet, T1, T3, OC48, OC192, 100 MBPS,1000 Mbps, GigE, Sonet, ISDN.

·              Worked with municipalities, federal and state departments, contractors, property owners and other utility companies to secure permits, easements and approvals to complete the construction of designed projects on time and within budget.

 

 

 

                                                                                        

 

Staff Manager Verizon Boston, MA.(1994 – 1998)

Staff position in the development, design, implementation, and support of the Engineering Construction Records and Information System (ECRIS), a mechanized system to input work operations for engineering work orders, time charges, and disbursement of materials by construction.

·              Ensured all outside plant methods and procedures were incorporated into the ECRIS database, worked with vendor to build a list of appropriate material values that correlated to work operations so that a user who selected “place aerial fiber cable” could not exceed the maximum reel footage allowed for that size and type of fiber optic cable, that the correct materials were onsite to complete the job the first time, and the material costs were posted to the correct accounting code.
