        As part of the QRF (quick reaction force) I deal with unexpected network outages and rectify the situation as quickly as possible. Perform operations and maintenance of the communications infrastructure to include the testing, toning, labeling, troubleshooting, and repairing inside and outside plant wiring. Accurately test copper and fiber (multimode and single mode) cables to required certification parameters utilizing appropriate test equipment. Diagnose and correct copper and optical fiber problems.

 

         ITT Systems

OSP Technician from Aug. 08 to Jan. 2012

Responsible for the engineering, installation and maintenance of NIPR, SIPR, and Centrex networks on various compounds in and around Kabul Afghanistan. We did trouble tickets on a daily basis and maintained the base cable records as well.

 

         Viper Communications

Supervisor from Feb. 2008 to Aug. 2008

Supervised a crew of installers in all aspects of the installation to insure that industry standards and building codes were adhered to. Prepare a daily report for project manager including my crews’ activities, worksites and proposed work for next day. Tested all fiber with a power meter and/or OTDR. Most notable project with Viper was Keesler Air Force Base Hospital, Over 1700 quad cat6 drops (200miles of cable).11 IDF’s, 1 MDF with multimode and Singlemode backbone.

Lead a crew of installers and insure that industry standards are followed in every aspect of installation. File a daily report on crew hours and activities

Plan crews activities to maximize efficiency and material usage.

Document, Test and Label the installation along with customer walkthrough at completion. Provide "as-built" along with spread sheet of all Fire-wall penetrations and description of firestop procedure used. This position was 100% travel and I completed 5 major installations.

 

Tech plus Communications

Service tech/Installation supervisor from July 1999 to March 2005

Performed telephone troubleshooting for several hotels and business offices. Key systems and PBX installation and maintenance. Obtained Mitel certification SX200 lightware19 release1 (amended to 2nd release from online refresher course). During new construction and remodel projects I was responsible for coordinating our efforts with the other trades and overseeing my crew’s daily activities.  Attended all construction meetings for tech plus and was present for all inspections. When the company expanded into Direct TV installations and distributorship I was then installing Head-end systems with our new hotel construction.36 direct TV channels with local channels on aerial antennae or over satellite. I worked closely with “Electronic systems” on first 2 then installed 6 start to finish by myself. My most notable projects with Tech plus were the 4 “Budget Suites” properties in the Dallas TX area. Construction lasted 2 years. I and temp employees from the area installed the Telephone (mitel-sx200), Direct TV head-end (32 chan.) and office security systems. All 4 of the hotels were over 200 rooms (the largest being 414 rooms) and completed on schedule.

Senior Tech from Dec. 1996 to June 1999

First position in the telecommunications industry. Learned to pull cable and terminate according to industry standards. We were also tested by supervisors for speed and knowledge in order to advance within the company (all of which I passed).Terminations included on tests include Cat 4, Cat 5, IBM types1, 2, 3, 9 RG6,8,11,58 and59,   110blocks,110patch panel   66blocks,  Krone blocks, Vampire taps, fiber optic terminations (ST SC) anaerobic and UV cook, fan out kits. Tested as well for proper use and installation of free standing or wall mounted racks, transceivers and thin-net repeaters. Demonstrate usage of all related test equipment (“Micro-test” brand) and optic fiber time delay reflectometer (OFTDR) most notable project with data link was the remodel of hallmark’s headquarters in Kansas City mo. I was in charge of 7th floor which was office space for approx. 500 of their office staff.
