both fiber optic and copper distribution cabling, including Sonet Ring and Ethernet design, routine aerial and underground, building entrance terminals and direct buried applications.  Designing DSL, ADSL, HiCap/ HDSL circuit orders and the interfacing of such circuits to NT DMS’s, LITESPAN, ADTRAN and Fujitsu remote sites for Verizon and Ameritech.

 

INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR                                                       1989 to 2003 

As a Planner, Project Manager and Outside Plant Engineer, I planned, engineered and designed cable routes for telco’s (much of the work at rural telcos incl. CenturyLink, Quest, Bellsouth, Frontier Comm. and Verizon) including field survey work. Also working on routines, held orders and capital projects and provisioning such. Performed Routine Outside Plant Engineering work, designing both fiber optic (FTTP& FTTH) and copper distribution cabling, including Sonet Ring and Ethernet design, routine aerial and underground, building entrance terminals and direct buried applications. I drafted the proceeding both manually and autoCAD. I have instructed and managed personnel in both systems administration, inside plant, and field technical positions. Developed comprehensive telecom plans, such as network plans and DDAP’s (detailed distribution area plans). Additionally, I designed DSL, HiCap/ HDSL circuit orders and the interfacing of such circuits to NT SL-1’s, LITESPAN and Fujitsu remote sites.

As Communications Manager, I managed the communications personnel, maintained and installed all communications systems, circuits, trunk lines and all associated equipment.

REPUBLIC TELCOM SYSTEMS                                                       1985 - 1988
Field Engineer.  Installed, tested, serviced, and maintained voice and data concentrator / multiplexer equipment, including interfacing with a variety of switches and long lines. I did some work for traders on Wall Street in communications turrets for long haul applications.

COMMONWEALTH TELE. CO.                                                         1983 - 1985
Outside Plant Field Engineer. Designed, drafted and implemented facilities for new services and future requirements including new work estimates over a million dollars.
 

AMERICAN SATELLITE CO.                                                            1982 - 1983
Status Center Administrator. Managed the Status Center (Information Center).  Responsibilities included monitoring circuits in jeopardy, escalating as required and disseminating these facilities status to upper management.  Maintaining visual displays of all facilities and monitored traffic on these circuits and escalated each accordingly.

 

 

HAS EXPERIENCE WITH:

Project management, planning, provisioning, designing, manual and autocad drafting experience, GPS knowledge and experience as well as fiber optic design and microwave/satellite dispersion knowledge. Knowledge of cable plant and the interface of copper and fiber cables and multiplex technology is another specialty. Engineering T-cxr Span Lines, interfacing with switches both remote and C.O. Inside Plant knowledge and experience. I am experienced with computers, Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Word and Excel PowerPoint and have used several different auto cad programs in wireless and wireline design (including Auto Cad 2000, CenturyLink’s EWO, Mapviewer, Fireworks & Bidmaster as well as Quest’s Cimage, and Verizon’s Microstation, Visio, ICGS, BellSouth’s(AT&T)BSTCAD.  Proficient with engineering aids i.e. FACS and LFACS, TIRKS and LEIS. And knowledge of telco protocol from routers to switches and channel banks, via T-1 to T-3 to OC_1 and OC-3. Need I say that I am quite familiar with the location of telecom facilities both inside plant(having worked in many C.O.’s and telephone closets) and outside plant, having designed both for numerous telecom companies. My work allowed for the interface with client users, managers, engineers, as well as local telco’s and telecom carriers. In addition, I have a fascination with frequencies and broadband, having studied and read and developed ideas about such and finally I recently completed a CISCO CCNA course.
