. Worked US West/Qwest properties in Portland, Salem, & Seaside, OR and Seattle, WA as a construction and maintenance splicer & supervisor. Duties included among other things, working cable transfers, the identification of problems,the diagnosing of causes and determining corrective actions in order to facilitate among other things the installation of DSL, T1, and other special circuits.

Organizing, scheduling, and managing projects including network wiring utilizing copper, co-ax, twin-ax, and fiber optic cables. In addition, we performed all phases of OSP contracting to GTE, US West, Digital Equipment Corp. (DEC) as well as others. These projects included buried, aerial, & underground cable placing & splicing as well as pole lines & conduit systems.  I sold this business in order to semi-retire and relocate to Edmonton.

Responsibilities included marketing, preparing bids, hiring, training and supervision of up to 120 employees. Organizing, scheduling, and bringing projects to successful conclusions. Reviewing and negotiating contracts with employee unions, (CWA & IBEW) coordinating with vendors and utility companies to ensure accurate and efficient installation of inside as well as outside plant. OSP projects incuded aerial, underground, & buried cable & conduit placing as well as splicing.

. Grew a one person cable splicing operation to a 35 employee outside plant construction operation. As well in 1982 I opened a retail phone store and began the sales and installation of telephone and data systems for including others, The State of WA. During this period I became proficient and certified on many different brands of key systems and switches.
