Supervised, planned, and coordinated the installation of Network/Telephone cabling (CAT5/6E, Fiber Optic, and Coax) throughout the National Navel Medical Center (NNMC), Bethesda, MD. Duties included project management, cabling plans coordination, as well as personnel management. Various jobs included the installation of cabling in newly constructed areas of the NNMC, as well as existing rooms and areas, per customer request.

 

·         Effectively made an immediate impact on the NNMC’s Telecom Department, by efficiently completing 70 backlogged as well as daily installation tickets in just a two month span. As a result, reduced the Telecom Department trouble ticket count by 95% earning favorable recognition from the Telecomm Department Branch Chief.

·         Supervised, planned, and coordinated a 15 drop installation of CAT6 cabling throughout the Wounded Warriors living quarters, in support of a security door hub system that enables entry into the rooms of troops under direst.

Cable / Antenna Systems Supervisor                                                                                                         September 1999-January 2010

114TH Signal Battalion/ US ARMY                                                                                                         Fort Detrick, Maryland

Accomplishments:

Provided Class-D level maintenance for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Raven Rock Mountain Complex. Supervised 13 antenna systems; supported engineering, installation, and maintenance of a 15 mile copper and fiber optic network, secure/non-secure local area networks, and telephone systems in support of a 5000 line telephone switch. Accountable for $1 million dollars’ worth of tools and equipment. Responsible for the health, welfare, morale, safety, and training of 15 employees. Managed a cable and wire construction team that supports worldwide Joint Communication Services (JCS), Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA), and Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM/9th ASC). Additional duties as follows:

 

·         Mission to install, maintain, and troubleshoot all cable, wire, and telephone communications systems

·         Directly contributed to providing on-call emergency circuit restoration, installation and maintenance to Top Secret communications systems providing support to the National Military Communications Center Site-R and other Special Operations communities which proved critical in the sustainment of special operations Worldwide Communications readiness

·         Processed 3,000 work orders in order to provide secure and non-secure telephone/wireless, local area networking, and telecommunication installations, connectivity, and maintenance to Raven Rock Mountain Complex

·         Instrumental in the removal of a seven mile stretch of aerial telephone line abandoned due to upgrade. The task required the removal of 128 line poles, 7 miles of 50 pair copper cable, 7 miles of fiber cable, and 14 miles of support messenger cable and disposing of materials through Hazardous Materials and Army salvage channels, saving the Army 150,000 dollars by not contracting out the removal

·         Conducted technical surveys for the installation of permanent and/or temporary voice, telephone, radio and wireless telecommunications systems required for protective and/or investigative mission support requirements

·         Trained and supervised over 120 soldiers/sixteen members of the 3D Marine Air Wing on the proper techniques of fiber optic splicing and outside plant installation standards

·         Supported the 11th Signal Brigade Basic Splicer school with the installation and termination of over 6000 meters of fiber optic cable on Fort Huachuca

·         Selected as head supervisor for the Camp Al Asad, Iraq commercialization installation, which installed over 40 miles of fiber optic cable

·         Supervised a successful installation of over 600 SIPR, NIPR, and CENTRIX commercial lines supporting more than 18 Operation Enduring Freedom organizations
