Bowlin Group, LLC (November 2008 – July 2011)

 

Bowlin Group provides comprehensive technical construction and maintenance services to clients in the wireless construction, broadband and fiber construction, power distribution and electrical industries.  The company consists of three divisions:  cell phone towers, fiber-optic and coaxial services, electrical services.  I began my career at Bowlin Group in the cell tower division and worked my up to a supervisor position with the fiber-optic division.

- Oversaw the federally funded SOCN Project – Chillicothe, OH

Structural Concrete Construction, Inc. (March 2008 - November 2008)

 

At Structural, I was responsible for pouring foundations for local tri-state builders, including Fischer Homes and TK Homes.  I was also responsible for constructing sidewalks and driveways.  I began and ended my tenure with this company as an assistant foreman.  My responsibilities included:

 

- Interpreted and executed blueprint plans

- Collaborated with inspectors, builders and customers

- Trained new employees

- Ensured safety regulations were being followed

- Operated heavy equipment

 

 

A&E Utilities (January 2007 - March 2008)

 

While with A&E, I installed underground conduit for future installment of fiber-optic cable using a directional drill, also known as a boring machine.  I began working with this company as a laborer and worked my way up to the position of heavy equipment operator.  My responsibilities included:

                         

- Located all existing utilities in the working area using 3M Technology locating systems

- Directed boring machine operator to our target using Mark IV locating systems

- Operated heavy equipment

- Installed manual pull boxes/cable pedestals for future fiber-optic installation

- Installed fiber-optic cable and performed all make-ready tasks for final hook-ups

- Land restoration

 

 

Special Projects

 

SOCN Project – Connecting Appalachia

 

This project was brought in to close gaps in broadband Internet connectivity in 34 rural Ohio counties.  This was a federally funded project.  My role as supervisor during this project required knowledge in several areas including: engineering, budgeting, logistics, customer service, and being the liaison between Bowlin Group and Horizon Telephone Company.
