DETAILED EXPERIENCE

 

February 23, 2015 – May 07, 2015                                                                                                          

INTERCONNECT ENGINEER – Working for Verizon, Greenville, South Carolina Employer is Vinculums, Inc. from San Diego, California.  The work consisted of taking field notes for cell site, “meet me” points and “point of connect”, starting at the fiber provider’s hand hole then establishing a conduit path, on cell site property, to the cell site compound and into the shelter, terminating inside at the “com rack”

 

 

This work also required documenting the conduit path into the shelter with photographs then illustrating them in Power Point.  All the information, notes and photographs were gathered together and down loaded into a job tracking, engineering data base called QUICKBASE.

 

This was a short duration project involving 60 cell sites in the Greenville and Spartanburg areas of South Carolina.

 

November 05, 2014 – February 06, 2015                                                                                                         OSP ENGINEER - Working for Verizon, Erie, Pennsylvania  The employer is CYIENT in Erie, Pa.  The work consisted of OSP design for both copper and fiber cable placement.   Work also included: customer work orders, pole surveys & make ready, ROW permit preparation and easement acquisition. 

 

September 25, 2013 – JAN 25, 2014

OSP WIRE CENTER ENGINEER – Working for Century-Link Telephone, east central Indiana. The employer was RJE Telecom; District office in Mansfield, Ohio. 

The work normally required route development and the taking of field notes and design for placing one or more of the following: aerial, buried or underground telecom facilities.  The design then drawn in a Micro Station based, CAD software that produced work prints for construction.

 

A design could consist of placing any one of the following: light fiber and its termination on related equipment, dark fiber for termination by others or copper cable with its related communication equipment.

 

The job also required determining make-ready requirements on existing poles, pole removal/replacement and guying requirements as required.  These processes were carried out for each project and involved pole lines of, from a few hundred feet to several miles.

 

September 25, 2012 – May 17, 2013

FIELD ENGINEEROSP DESIGN ENGINEER – Working for Chillicothe Telephone (Horizon Telecom) in southern Ohio, and Century-Link Telecom in south & central Ohio. Employed by Sigma Technologies, Perrysburg Ohio

 

The work consisted of design for aerial, buried and underground cable, also consisted of fiber route development.  The work specifically involved taking field notes along one or more of the following: a proposed pole line, a buried route or an underground route, for placing fiber to the premise

 

 

 

Designs involved dark fiber rings and light fiber laterals to the node, as well as, fiber to the home (premise). All light fiber was sourced back to local switch. Dark fiber backbone and dark fiber laterals were designed for placement along a newly developed fiber route.

 

In addition, the work also required pole surveys for make-ready on existing poles, pole removal/placing and guying as required. All survey detail information was collected and put into an EXCEL, data matrix.

 

January 06, 2012 to July 17, 2012

OSP CONTRACT ENGINEER – Working for Windstream Telecom in Ashtabula, Ohio; contracting through TEK Systems, Cleveland, Ohio; work consisted of taking field notes, and designing jobs in Micro Station application used by Windstream.  Duties required working with a materials and labor based, costing software used for job control & pricing. 

 

Responsibility involved multiple exchanges throughout north east and central Ohio.  The work specifically consisted of designing CAD drawings for construction, which consisted of creating work prints for placing fiber & copper cable; cross connect boxes, remote switching equipment and fiber to cell sites.         

 

August 06, 2011 to December 17, 2011 (Note: This short term job was abbreviated due to severe down turn in Frontier’s financial situation).

OSP NETWORK ENGINEER – Working for Frontier Telecommunications in Burnsville, Minnesota Contracting through Telecom America Services (TAS), San Marcos, Texas; work consisted of taking field notes, preparing permits and designing jobs on a CAD system, used by Frontier.  I also worked in a materials and labor based costing software used for job pricing.  The work area covered five exchanges around the Minneapolis-St Paul area.

 

December 08, 2009 – August 01, 2011

FIELD ENGINEER – Worked as contractor for LUMOS NETWORKS for engineering design of aerial fiber placing to the cell site, in south central WVA. Assignment under short term contract for MOUNTAIN LTD, New Gloucester, Main

 

This work consisted of the development of aerial, dark fiber routes for cell tower sites in the area of southwest, West Virginia.  It primarily required carrying out a pole line survey, taking field notes, preparing engineering design for placing dark fiber between several cell sites, with termination at central switch location. 

 

 

 

 

The pole lone survey involved the assessment of all poles along the route, where aerial attachments were to be made then required recording each pole’s vital statistics: all points of attachment and attachment heights.  The survey information was then recorded in the field notes, entered into a pole data matrix, which was forwarded to respective power pole owners.

 

August 07, 2008 – April 17, 2009

OSP WIRE CENTER ENGINEER – Worked as contractor for EMBARQ, INC (SPRINT), consecutively with Central District of VA and then Central District of PA.  Contracted through RJE TELECOM, Manchester, OH Worked as Wire Center Engineer, designing in EWO CAD system) and using PACS (production, accounting and construction system).  Provided OSPE design, routine jobs and service orders, including DSL and special circuits; Work area covered multiple rural wire centers throughout central Virginia and PA.

 

April 12, 2005 –July 30, 2008

CONTRACTOR - TELICS Inc., Fort Mill, SC for AT&T operations

(05/07/08 – 07/30/08) ROAD MOVE ENGINEER – Worked at AT&T OPERATIONS in Charlotte, NC. Assigned to design road widening project for the proposed NASCAR Motor Museum

(4/12/05 – 05/03/08) OSP DESIGN ENGINEER – Worked for BELL SOUTH/ AT&T OPERATIONS in KY, Louisville District, as a Wire Center Engineer with responsibility for all AT&T activities in the assigned wire center: handled all customer point of contact; coordinated all work in wire center by line crews, splicers, and construction crews; responsible for design and implementation of routine work orders for businesses, office parks, office buildings, single family and multi-dwelling units.

 

Projects required working closely with Louisville Power & light on joint owned pole lines and joint trench use for buried conduit and cable.

 

Responsibilities also involved designing building interior cabling (BICS) projects which required knowledge and adherence to NESC standards.  These projects utilized both EMT and ridged metal conduit.

 

Also responsible for designed fiber backbone & laterals projects that placed fiber to the premise (FTTP), Metro Ethernet and pair gain units.  Originated permit requests and supplied supporting documentation, researched ROW and easements; designed road moves initiated by developers and power company changes or highway department requirements. Worked with underground; placing manholes and conduit.  Projects often required working closely with municipalities regarding tree trimming restrictions, traffic control and ROW considerations.

Followed up with engineering cable projects for permanent relief; created work orders, providing available pair assignments and processing job through system to approval and release.  This work consisted specifically of taking field notes and engineering design.

OUTSIDE PLANT ENGINEER – (06/01/03 – 03/02/04) Worked as contractor for VERIZON, PA Operations in York, PA, contracted with RJE Telecom.  Work involved QC checking engineered work orders and small projects then inputting into CAD system.
