FTTP

Provided Fiber Engineering for the Verizon FTTP Project in Riverside County, Los Angeles County and Ventura County, Southern California area. The FTTP Project consisted of field notes and complete engineering design (aerial, buried and underground)to provide fiber based services to the end use customer.  Provide permit and hub details as required. Input all pertinent information, cable, cable sizes, cable counts, terminal sizes, terminal counts and wiring limits (addresses served) of terminals. Provide future facilities for SBU MDU/MTU locations on an as needed basis.

 

FTTN

Provided complete engineering for the SBC/AT&T Fiber to the Node project in San Diego, Ca. Project consisted of detailed engineering for F2 conditioning, fiber backbones and replacement of SAI’s to meet FTTN requirements. Provide permitting as required. Design fiber backbone jobs as requested.

 

MISC PROJECT - TELCOM

Provided Fiber estimate for the City of Fontana, Ca working through a third party vendor. Phase 1 of project consisted of engineering for connectivity of all county and city buildings throughout the City of Fontana, utilizing existing infrastructure and providing engineering for new build infrastructure. Phase 2 of project consisted of providing estimate of fiber requirements for connectivity to all addresses within the sphere of influence of the City of Fontana (45 sq. mi.).

 

DESIGN ENGINEERING

Wire Center responsibility for F1 (feeder ca's, RT's, fiber routes, central office osp equip; held orders). Work within budget considerations to provide solutions to satisfy customer orders. Determine new RTU site locations for acquisition of easement. 

Responsible for providing complete engineering- CAD, design, pricing, and associated paper work (Loop Makeups, DB loss calculations, Right of Way, Permits, Fiber Loss) as required. Provide complete design engineering for fiber based Metro Ethernet services, copper based metro Ethernet and fiber ring design. Provide complete facilities design engineering for Held Order Requests (no facilities available) for Special Services - ISDN, HDSL (2 & 4 wire), Repeatered T1 lines and POTS & HICAP services. Provide facilities for Feeder Relief and DLC upgrades. Projects include: Aerial, buried, and underground environments for new build Subdivisions, Condos and Apartment complexes. Rehab projects - redesign of existing Outside Plant facilities (buried and aerial). Knowledgeable in loading, air pressure buffering, apparatus cases, and cell sites. Knowledge of pair gain equipment.

Responsible for obtaining complete field notes for buried, aerial and underground jobs. Interface with developers for placement of telcom facilites (handholes/pedestals and conduit – size and depth) in new build applications (commercial and residential). Interface with applicable city, county or state entities on road move projects. Ability to read blueprints as it relates to commercial projects and right of way prints as it pertains to road moves and existing right of way information.

Knowledge and proficiency in fiber to cell site, fiber backbone routes and road move projects. Proficient in customer premise site surveys for new or added services/cabling.

 

 

 

CATV ENGINEERING

 

Project Planner:

Provide estimates for sales related business requests of fiber and coax based services. Job consists of pulling records, fielding site for construction requirements and pricing estimated costs for complete build. Working knowledge of OSP Engineering Practices, G.O.95 & G.O.128. Ability to interface with developers and customers as requested/required. Interface with other Cox personnel within CBS Planning group and other departmental personnel on project design and paper flow issues. This position requires a maximum 5 day turn around on all requests. Engineers usually process an average of five completed CWS Requests daily in addition to special projects. Position requires proficient time management skills as well as working knowledge of in house data base programs (GNIS, Bid) and Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Map out and measure existing CATV systems (aerial and buried) for re-build. Show direction of feed for amplifiers, line extenders, and show cable sizes. Indicate taps, tap values, power supplies, directional couplers, splitters, equalizers, and all related construction hardware (anchors, guys, pedestal sizes, etc.) Verify house counts, note long drop lengths, and assess MDU's (Multiple Dwelling Units). Map out and measure cable route for non cabled areas.
