Tier II Network Design Engineer

Tier II provides support for all Configuration, Accounting, Performance, and Security management functional areas.  Some fault resolution is done at Tier II for more complex problems elevated by Tier I in accordance with NOC standard operating procedures.  Tier II works a normal duty day but provides 24x7 coverage via an on-call process, or additional scheduling as needed.  Specific duties include:

·          Participate and provide information for daily Ops briefs to the DISA CONUS leadership

·          Performance management and metrics on operational networks for proactive fault prevention.  Network analysis for problem areas and trends to isolate issues before they become outages

·          Customer access requirements analysis, engineering, and configuration management of those circuits not requiring additional hardware or bandwidth.  Requirements needing additional backbone bandwidth or hardware are passed to Tier III for engineering action and tracked by Tier II.

·          Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and customers to schedule system downtimes for authorized service interruptions

·          Coordinate with both military and commercial agencies to schedule installations of customer access circuits

·          Initial, Testing, and Acceptance (IT&A) of new network devices and circuits

·          Manage and maintain network device configurations, access, and permission levels for all users

·          Security Administration:  Manage the Information System Security Program (ISSP).  Evaluate and recommend Information Assurance (IA) products and IA enabled products, maintain accreditation status, evaluate security incidents, provide all pertinent information surrounding security incidents, and make recommendations to assist the ISSO in evaluating the severity and ramifications of security incidents
