Manager/Principle Engineer, Routed Networks (RNET)

Responsible for providing direction and guidance to a cross-functional team of 30+ engineers, deploying Sprint’s core/edge IP switching elements in support of EvDO, NGVN and PMSC VOIP platforms.

·   EvDO routed platform SME in regard to network infrastructure and routed backhaul solutions.

·   Planned, staged and Implemented Sprint’s nationwide HDLC to MLPPP conversion project.

·   Initiated, developed and implemented a database solution that resolved configuration integrity issues within Sprint’s routed EvDO platform.  With the creation of this systematic database, deployment efforts associated with this project ultimately led to a reduction in rework and configuration inconsistencies and ultimately a reduction of necessary engineering resources by 50%. 

Supervisor, Network Operations Control Center 10/2004 – 07/2006

Responsible for managing/driving all network impacting events to successful resolution.  Supervised as many as 25 Network Technicians spanning multiple shifts who performed surveillance activities and remote maintenance on Sprint’s local voice switching and VOIP networks.  Switching platforms include the Nortel DMS 10/100/250/300, Lucent 5E, as well various other pair-gain devices.  Responsible for the submission of all network events meeting specified criteria to the FCC. 

·   Developed training criteria and standards utilized by the training department for onboarding/acclimating entry level technicians into the NOC environment.

·   Implemented a QC (Quality Control) program which enabled all levels of management to successfully measure productivity.

Manager, Network Implementation 10/2000– 10/2004

Organized, staffed and managed a newly formed engineering department performing CTT (Call-Through-Testing) and strategic support for ION (Integrated On-Demand Network) voice/translations as well as test and turn-up functions of Sprint’s ATM, IP, Frame Relay, SONET and Transport network elements.

·   Developed and implemented JET (Job Entry Tool) which quickly became the standard work force management utility.

·   Efficiently staffed, managed and developed as many as 35 exempt level engineers.

·   Provided engineering and training forecasts for capital and expense budgeting purposes.

·   Managed the support testing required for implementing new infrastructure builds/upgrades to network elements supporting protocols such as ATM, IP, Frame Relay 

·   Worked closely with organizations such as NPD (Network Planning and Design) and BSE (Broadband Switch Engineering) to determine capacity requirements necessary to support future and present growth.

·   Collaborated with planning, engineering and NTAC in the deployment, testing and implementation of new hardware and software into the switching and signaling networks.

Lead NOC technician responsible for proactively monitoring and maintaining Sprint’s ATM Network to include customer access circuits, inter-machine trunks, Sprint network and core ATM switches and customer premise equipment.

·   Setup, connect and perform remote testing on electrical circuits ranging from DS1 to DS3 and optical circuits from OC3 up to OC192 using the Hewlett-Packard and Adtech Digital/Optical Test Sets.

·   Held responsible for the training and supervision of up to eight network technicians in a control center environment that monitor and maintain Sprint’s Broadband ATM Network. Held accountable for network event reports and outage summaries. 

·   Created and managed both internal and external customer tickets and associated circuit databases.
