Experience

Principal Consultant / Enterprise Architect / CTO – Blue Rhino Group              2003-Current

·      As the Principal consultant for Blue Rhino Group my duties included the design, development, implementation, support, management, and maintenance of multiple enterprise IT infrastructure projects for a diverse group of government and private sector customers.

·      Along with my daily client facing responsibilities, I performed all of the CTO/CIO level functions for Blue Rhino Group that included the overall IT strategy and direction of our multi-homed data center presence in Tampa, Florida and Denver, Colorado as well as the day-to-day management and budgeting of our internal IT staff and contractors.  Responsibilities also included final decision making on products purchased and implemented within the core IT infrastructure as well as all network, storage, backup, and application infrastructure.  This included direct responsibility of leading the development of the BRG CRM and Consultant And Engagement Management system on the SalesForce.com and Force.com platforms.

·      Responsible for the role of principal architect for Wawa Inc. in Wawa, Pennsylvania.  Daily responsibilities included engaging with the senior executives of Wawa to define and implement a mobile strategy that included the development of a mobile enablement platform, the design and development of an iOS and Android Wawa application, and the incorporation of the wawa.com in the mobile presence.  This engagement required detailed knowledge of cloud technologies including those from Amazon Web Services and Kobie Loyalty system.  Integrations for this project included First Data Corp for gift card and credit card tokenization and management, Nutritionix for nutritional information, Kobie Loyalty for loyalty management and reward issuance, FFPS for fuel pricing and analytics, and PING/UnBoundID for federated identity management and OAuth 2.0 support.  Technologies used in the design included Volt DB, HP Vertica, MongoDB, JEE 1.7, Spring, Hibernate, Spring for OAuth Security, PING Federate and UnBoundID IPS.  This solution required the implementation of an MDM compliant Customer Hub as well as a high volume transactional columnar analytics database.  This platform is designed and deployed in the Amazon Web Service (AWS) environment utilizing elastic load balancing, elastic caching, multiple availability zones and high availability clustering of the application servers in the mobile gateway and integrated services layer.

·      Responsible for the role of principal enterprise architect at Wyndham Vacation Ownership in Orlando, Florida.  Daily responsibilities included the interacting with CXO level executives to define and implement the overall mobility strategy for all WVO lines of business including Sales, Marketing, Consumer Finance, and Hospitality.  Responsible for defining the enterprise architecture, design patterns, and governance process surrounding mobility and technology transformation for the IT organization.  Personally responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of several mobile enabled enterprise solutions which featured both web based and IOS applications.  These solutions are currently utilized by Marketing professionals, Sales professionals, and Hospitality professionals to deliver industry-leading services to the WVO customer base and Vacation Ownership sales leads.  The enterprise solutions I architected and designed included: a tour booking application used by the Marketing line of business to book timeshare tours for potential timeshare owners; a sales application to process end-to-end business functionality for the sales process including pre-sales, in-flight sales, and post sales business functions; and a product fulfillment application responsible for the inventory control of promised products for timeshare sales tour participation.  The marketing solution is designed as an enterprise implementation utilizing the latest in cloud technology from Oracle to provide a mobile enablement environment with full cloud utility utilization and elastic mobile deployment and support environment.  The tour booking application was designed to support an IOS application deployed through Mobile Iron to provisioned WVO assets.  This iOS application was designed specifically for the iPad as the need for information required the larger screen resolution afforded by this device as well as incorporation into custom designed kiosks for placement in high traffic retail and vacation environments.  The sales line of business solution design included the incorporation and integration of existing enterprise published services and mainframe applications to provide line-of business support to the timeshare sales professionals in the WVO sales centers.  This enterprise solution includes the orchestration of enterprise services for credit pre-screening, credit scoring, Wyndham consumer financing, and real estate deed provisioning.  The sales solution included both a web-based J2EE application and an IOS application deployed through Mobile Iron to provisioned Wyndham Assets.  The iOS application was designed and implemented as an iPad only solution as the applications data collection and screen flows required the higher resolution screen afforded by the iPad.  The inventory control solution is a ground-up design, supported by the Force.com cloud-computing environment to provide inventory management and product fulfillment to support the gifting business process of the timeshare sales and marketing process.  This enterprise solution includes and iOS application used by the gift fulfillment group within the marketing domain to register and fulfill the promised products or services included in the timeshare lead generation and tour management processes.  The iOS application is designed to interact with privet enclave published services developed and hosted on a private Force.com platform through peer-to-peer SSL communications and the consumption of web services through the SSL tunnel.

·      Responsible for the role of principal architect at the United States Health and Human Services Administration technology transformation contract held by BRG.  My responsibilities included the design and implementation of the next generation health management information system responsible for the processing, analytics, payment processing, auditing, and other key functions for the Federal Medicare/Medicaid programs.  This environment included a mix of technologies including IBM WebSphere Application and ESB components, Microsoft .Net Applications and WCF services, Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, RavenDB etc. utilizing a web deployment using Ubuntu Linux 12.04 LTS, Apache2, JBoss, Tomcat, and WebMethods ESB.  Personally designed and implemented the Cloud implementation strategy for this enterprise application to support over 350,000 concurrent web, mobile, and integration users utilizing several commercially unavailable Google Cloud components including the enterprise data, HRD, and enterprise compute functions.

·      Under contract to the department of Health and Human Services of the United States I was responsible for the design and implementation of the newly implemented benefits management system for all federal workers and agencies.  This Service implementation required the design and implementation of encapsulated consumable web services for internal applications and external agencies for benefits management for over 2.8 million federal employees.  Services designed and implemented during this project included retirement account management services as well as HR specific management and reporting services deployed to independent infrastructure to support legacy integration.  These environments included enterprise J2EE Applications as well as Microsoft .Net applications and extended to the Amazon Cloud for Big Data retention and complex analytics processing and Oracle Cloud for Human Capital Management.

·      Responsible for the exchange 2003 to 2007 migration project for the United States Army at Ft Bragg, NC, the VMware infrastructure implementation for the NASA Goddard Flight Center, the DIACAP certification of the CENTCOMM Modern Warfighter Support System for the US DoD, the data center migration project for the State of North Carolina, and my continued role as Lead Architect for the SunPass pre-paid tolling system for Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise.

·      Personally designed and directed the implementation of various business and mission critical Mobile Applications and supporting infrastructure for iOS and android devices including the SBA.gov app, the FDA mobile information system, and several application developed for the US Army and US Navy.  These projects were deployed to the Blue Rhino Group’s Federal Cloud Platform as provided under the GSA contract as part of the federal cloud initiative.  These projects included a mix of technologies including several linux LAMP distributions configured in active-active clustered configurations using VMware virtualization and vApp infrastructure.  SAN services built around the Dell Enterprise SAN initiative in conjunction with our partners from Brocade, Cisco, HP, and IBM.  Cloud compliant database implementations of Oracle with full RAC configuration, SQL Server using Windows and VMWare clustering, and other various cloud enabling technologies we employed to create a Federal Cloud Compliant implementation with the BRG datacenter environment.

Google Cloud: Google App Engine Implementations for redundancy and elasticity from primary application implementation, Google Cloud Endpoint integrations from primary java environments, Google Cloud Storage for Big data retentions, analytics, and redundancy (backup)

Force.com: Multiple integration strategies including full development and deployment of AaaS, PaaS, and IaaS utilizing both the force.com and salesforce.com platform.  Full SAP integration with force.com for multiple projects including HHS.

Oracle Cloud: Integration and deployment of several oracle cloud offerings including enterprise java middleware integrations for elastic computing environments, scalable messaging implementations, and cloud based database scaling for large enterprise implementations.

Apple iCloud :  Complex mobile application environments to support device and mobile app platform synchronization through Apple API implementations.

Workday Cloud: Design and implementation of workday iPaaS as redundant and elastic middleware solution.

Microsoft Cloud:  All aspects of Microsoft Cloud Implementations including design and integration of Microsoft Enterprise technologies as well as Windows Azure integration from local data center resident applications extending to complex and dynamic Azure instances.
