SME Project
Description: McKesson
AP (Accounts Payable) uses internal shared services department MFC TS to do
their reporting services. These legacy reports are built on MS Access and
involve lot of manual work, which is done on a regular basis by the report
analysts. MFC TS engaged us to do an assessment to consolidate and optimize
their current AP reporting environment and provide a proposal to migrate them
to Business Objects 4.0. The existing reports uses data from heterogeneous
data sources like SAP, SAP BW, People Soft, JD Edwards and many other local
systems, which is imported into MS Access and SQL server. This assessment was
grouped into two stages, one for rationalizing and optimizing the existing
reports and the second one to do data source mapping for each report. This
extremely convoluted reporting environment was assessed with in the given
timeline and the customer was extremely satisfied with the assessment as we
could bring down the reports to 60% once they are consolidated in the BO
environment. Responsibilities: ·
Met with business
to understand the reports they are currently using and captured high-level
definition of the reports. ·
Worked with
report analysts to understand the technical details of the reports. ·
Analyzed the
reports for consolidation scope and the approach for consolidation. ·
Grouped
reports to facilitate effective implementation of them on the Business
Objects environment. ·
Did a mapping
exercise to capture the ultimate data source for each report field. This is
done for all the reports, which would later help the Business Objects report
development team. ·
Worked
closely with MFC TS technical lead and gave technical guidance and overview
on best practices to implement business objects environment. ·
Documented
all the assessment results and briefed MFC TS technical lead on the
documentation for future usage. ·
