Senior QA engineer.

Most recently managed an outsourced QA team of 4-6 to deliver a flow of weekly regression and exploratory testing. (references from the team available). Created TestRail plans, suites, runs, milestones and reports to manage ever growing suite of test cases. Administered TestRail bug tracking system.

LEAN / SCRUM environment. Participated in every aspect of attend.com quality, from actual events to standup meetings to creating quality processes for engineering.

Worked extensively on automating company’s main web project using Capybara as automation tool. Worked with product team to identify and separate automation and manual scenarios. Helped team to identify and automate scenarios across different products, including mobile (Windows and iOS).

 

01/26/2011 – 08/20/2014: Ebsco. Ipswich MA.

●        Senior SQA engineer. 

Responsibilities and day-to-day tasks:

In charge of releasing of all parts of a large internal suite of apps in all lifecycle environments (INTEGRATION, QA, UAT). Maintain above 200 instances of software of various size and complexity  in QA environments along with keeping up to date septuplet of db clones for each environment.

Release process includes building, using  Jenkins CI build systems and deploying java apps on Linux VMs as well as .Net apps on Windows VMs and applying database changes using both SQL Plus command line and MS SQL Server Management Studio. Automated monitoring server logs for errors. Mentor QA team members to help automating SOAP and RESTful services testing using soapUI PRO automation tool. Day to day routine includes building/deploying/configuring/testing JAVA & .Net apps with Oracle 10g and MS SQL database on the back end. In 2010 - 2012 I was a lead on several releases of projects with 5-6 QA engineers involved in testing. Coordinated and documented Software Release Orders for all of released projects which included step-by-step documentation of the process. I came up with full automation plan for continuous integration in DEV environment which is currently in place Estimated QA time/resources and delivery time frame working closely with Development and PMO members of the projects. Worked with architect/dev/release teams to come up with minute-by-minute (2 day long) deployment document of projects being delivered.

Was a lead QA and delivered on time and with highest quality multiple projects within my department for internal customers (sales and marketing mostly).

EBSCO Accomplishments:

Wrote detailed deployment instructions (SRO - software release orders) for release engineers for deploying components in Production environment.

Introduced "environment holy book" into day-to-day life of DEV and QA teams, eliminating chaos in resource management and allocation.

Introduced and implemented the process of keeping track of multiple versions/health checks of software being released.             

Lead continuous integration process creation to a successful implementation and simplified re-usability in different projects.

Due to resource shortages took responsibilities of PMO and lead release of the project from start to successful Production releases.

After acquisition of a major e-book company by EBSCO, played a key lead QA role in integrating acquired company into EBSCO ecosystem.

01/11/2010 – 01/14/2011: CRS Inc. Newton MA.

●        Lead SQA engineer. Key player in day to day QA activities, organizing efforts and working on processes to contribute in the most efficient way to company’s agile approach. Created both data driven and framework based automated tests using open source Selenium tool for an internal web based CRM software. Using Selenium IDE recorded and ported to PHP codebase automation test cases. Successfully configured Selenium Grid to run tests in parallel on multiple environments. As QA dept was new in the company, introduced and enforced QA methodology and processes to be used and followed by all participants of SDLC. Extensively worked with business to create test plan and test cases for the outgoing system. Was recognized, along with my QA peers, for dramatically bringing down the number of issues introduced in production and taking the company releases to the next level of quality in a very short time.

 

07/13/2008 - 01/11/2010: Vlingo, Cambridge, MA SQA engineer (www.vlingo.com)

●        Automation SQA engineer. Maintained automation for voice recognition software and various SDKs based on it using XML scenario files. Created shell scripts for QA team to make testing more efficient and error proof. Mentored junior QA team members on various QA assignments.

●        Lead engineer on corporate web site automation. Using Selenium suite of tools (IDE, RC and Grid) designed general approach and majority of the framework which was used in all future test case development. After that was supervising and assigning automation tasks to junior specialists.

●        Projects worked on: Vlingo Voice for Blackberry, Blackberry textbox SDK, J2ME SDK, Vlingo corporate website. QA lead on Vlingo for iPhone project (voted by iPhone team to be the best free app to come out in November 2008!!!). QA lead on Vlingo for Samsung Jack Windows Mobile OS 6.5 and HTC devices. Also was  involved in Vlingo for Nokia project (released for Nokia N97 & Nokia E72)

●        Build engineer: I was responsible for all client side builds for all Vlingo clients. Using Continuous Integration Cruise Control supported/configured both QA and Production servers to ensure successful execution and timely delivery. Extensively worked with development to apply/remove changes as was necessary.

 

04/24/2006 – 07/13/2008: Cross Country Automotive Services, Medford, MA.  IT QA (http://www.crosscountry-auto.com)

●        Automation QA engineer. Using Segue Silk Test 7.1 created framework based on which developed automated test cases for repetitive parts of .NET based applications. Successfully designed and implemented automation projects achieving set goals for automation team. Successfully ran overnight test suites and reported problems.  Using MKS Integrity Client submitted and described issues assigning them to development and BA teams for further analysis and fixes. Extensively tested IVR/SALT systems as well as analyzed issues and created reports for the management and development teams.

●        Release engineer/SQA Engineer. Worked with development teams regularly to create builds (incremental fixes and new releases), during the QA, Staging, and Production cycles (.NET client-server, web, MS Speech and standalone applications). Created branches and failover backups for Production support in Perforce 2006.2. Worked with development/DBA teams on a regular, day to day basis on creation of build processes and documentation. Using InstallShield 2008 and .NET 2003 – 2005 compiled solutions and prepared .msi packages for later deployment. On a day to day basis supported QA team environments by configuring applications as well as deploying and testing them. Responsibilities also included configuration of applications on a Microsoft Speech Server 2004 for voice recognition testing, as well as db updates for the same configuration.
