Cisco – Pangaea (CUBE Application Enhancement) is a development project, for the client Cisco Systems, Inc. Cisco – Pangaea represents the core Tax and Customs processes. Customs regulations require that all products/components imported into a country be assigned HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) numbers. Most countries in the world subscribe to a common schedule of numbers up to the sixth digit and then apply additional, country-specific digits, as well as duty rates. In addition to duty, HTS numbers are used to determine special documentation and admissibility requirements, to decide whether special duty reduction programs exist and to collect international trade statistics.  Errors in assigning HTS numbers can result in increased scrutiny from local Customs authorities, insufficient or excessive payment of duties, delays in processing shipments into the country of import, missed duty saving exemptions, or fines and penalties for non-compliance.
