Managing Principal Engineer, Life Cycle Engineering (LCE), March 2008 to Present

Technical thought leader in a professional services organization.  Responsible for helping clients use cutting-edge technologies to solve problems, enhance capabilities, reduce costs and achieve strategic initiatives.  Managed risk, funding, financial spend plans, project schedules, daily operations and deliverables.  Also responsible for assisting business development efforts and writing technical proposals.

·               9/2011 – Present: Authored technical content for proposals that generated over $20 million in revenue.  Made significant contributions to the growth of the Advanced Technology business unit from 18 FTE to 100+.

·               10/2014 – Present: Technical Leader responsible for expanding the capabilities of a Fraud Investigation and Intelligence Analysis Tool,  including the development of UI plug-ins, the integration of data sources (documents, multimedia, GIS imagery, etc.) and additions to the ontology-based data model.  Authored the Software Development Plan, which defined standards, processes, patterns and practices for consistency and reuse.  Lead requirements analysis, technical investigations, solution design meetings and capability demonstrations.  Author white papers that describe project scope and technical approach.  Assist efforts to investigate the integration of a Private Cloud Implementation with analytics tools to provide real-time views of relevant information.

·               9/2012 – 9/2014: Chief Engineer of a large, multi-team project responsible for developing cloud-compliant software applications and web services for the US Air Force.  Led the design of a private cloud-based DevOps platform that used automated processes to provision standardized development environments, create software builds, and conduct continuous integration, testing and delivery.  Led the research and evaluation of automated test tools that supported functional, regression and load testing in the DevOps environments. Led the design and implementation of an Agile / Scrum software development methodology, team structure, team workspace and staffing plans.  Led the creation of product development plans (testing, continuous integration, configuration management, release management, disaster recovery, etc.).  Oversaw product development operations and deliverables.  Participated in technical discussions, demonstrations and management meetings with customers.

·               9/2011 – 9/2012: Leader of a multi-team research, development, test and evaluation project for the US Air Force.  Responsibilities were almost identical to above, including integration and deployment into Air Force environments. Used an Agile/Scrum methodology to prototype and evaluate open source solutions in five technical areas: federated identity, single sign-on, policy-based access control, cloud-compliant enterprise logging (and auditing) and continuous integration / continuous testing.

·               9/2010 – 9/2011: Leader of a team responsible for deploying, integrating, and validating the components of a Joint Intelligence Analysis Tool.  Managed funding, financial spend plans, staffing plans and deliverables.  Led the testing and performance analysis of software security components.  Also led the design and implementation of a cloud-based Automated On-Demand Testing capability that significantly reduced system downtime by automating and scheduling validation activities.  Participated in technical discussions, presentations and demonstrations with customers. 

·               3/2008 – 9/2010: Leader of a team responsible for constructing and evaluating private cloud platform solutions (PaaS) using technologies from IBM, BEA, Red Hat, Oracle and PostgreSQL. Led the research, development, test and evaluation of a Joint Battlespace Awareness Common Operating Picture (forces, tracks and capabilities) using the Red Hat platform.  Helped customers integrate their applications and services into the Red Hat platform. Led engineering efforts to secure and validate the solutions in preparation for Certification and Accreditation.

Solution Architect, Software AG USA, December 2005 to March 2008

Member of a Presales Team responsible for helping Software AG capture business opportunities by designing, integrating and demonstrating the capabilities of the webMethods product suite.

·               Received 4 awards for outstanding service & dedication (Jun 2006, Sept 2006, Apr 2007, Aug 2007).

·               Worked closely with sales representatives to discover customer needs, present webMethods capabilities / benefits, design solution blue prints, write proposals, and demonstrate value by integrating proof-of-concept solutions into customer environments.

·               Helped Software AG establish a partnership with Bearing Point, a global systems integrator.  Led partner training classes and the co-development of solutions that were powered by webMethods.

Senior Software Engineer, Scientific Research Corporation (SRC), April 1995 to March 1999

Helped SRC establish a software maintenance and help desk facility for an enterprise Naval Communications System at a Navy Engineering Command (SPAWAR).

·               Worked with government sponsor to establish and run the facility: created the workspace, development environments, staffing plans, project plans, processes, procedures and practices.

·               Authored technical briefs and white papers.  Helped set the vision and create plans for future generations of the product.  Presented information to senior Navy and government officials.

·               9/2011 – Present: Designed and developed a subscription based mobile web application for tablets and mobile phones.  This application provided a mobile shopping list and flyer search capabilities.  Utilized the following platforms: Titanium, mobile web (HTML5, CSS, Javascript, jQuery).

·               9/2008 – 9/2011: Designed and developed a mobile Android application proof-of-concept for tablets and mobile phones.  This device helped users find products in big box stores, and included the ability to advertise, cross-sell, and up-sell.  Utilized the following platforms: Android, J2ME.
