Netezza Consultant - From August 2010 till date

Strictly speaking, I am toggling between short term Consultancy and jobless states.

At present I am working as Netezza Architect on a Consultancy basis with US

based Client. The consulting period is expected to be over by February 2013.

Typical job function is to administer, architect ETL or ELT systems, be the SME

with the Netezza Twin fin 1000 (TF 24/48, OS 7) system hosted on RHEL 6 along

with SPSS and modeling tools like Matlab or Ab initio.

The role varies from Client to Client as per Consulting contract. Suggesting

Netezza systems, deriving and analyzing right ETL and DW (data marts) for the

business, leading or guiding or learning with different teams which work on

Microstratgy / Ab initio/SSIS/SPSS/Matlab teams, administering the environment

as Practice Head or Analyst or Manager, working on Proof Of Concept, handling

production and test environments, managing Onsite or Offshore teams,

coordinating with top management and Architects or working as Netezza

As a Netezza Consultant, I am working on a DW & BI system which involves

porting different data sets from Oracle, MSSQL and Hadoop clusters on to Twin

fin system (worth 200TB of medical data).

Previous Work Experience

1.. Manager with AOL INDIA, from August 2006 to June 2010

Worked as Senior Manager for a group of 55 people comprising Managers

,Architects, Senior DBA members , DW & BI professionals, Q&A Team members,

Editorial team members, Consultants and Report management team. in

Reported to Vice President Of Engineering.

On program management side for Search business, I worked as Team Manager.

As an individual Contributor at a later stage, I worked as Netezza SME for 8650

Series and TF12 system. Data volumes were around 100 TB. Oracle 9i and Netezza

8650 (OS 4), MSSQL 2003 Server Clusters (Active-Passive) along with Ab Initio,

SSIS were the Data System ingredients.

I designed the MSSQL Clusters, Netezza data store, Ab initio ETL and Data mart

management. Business Objects was used for reporting which was managed by

Senior Programmers and Manager teams; whom I managed in turn.

* Architect Netezza & Big data & ETL solutions for AOL Search Engine using State

of the art technologies like Netezza, MSSQL, Open source solutions and other DW

tools.

I lead this international team which had five major constituents as it's core

functions -

* Search Data warehouse – Manage Data store, analyze and test Search data

trends for US and UK Search. This data warehouse has Petabyte on Netezza,

Oracle and MSSQL clusters where my teams worked on Programming, Data

migrations, Data Architecting, DW metric management, ETL management and

Reporting.

* Search Editorial - Content management, Tool and Product development, related

website program management.

* Map Quest Business Analysis - Support the US Map Quest business team for

optimization and monetization efforts

* Search Business Management - Optimization, Revenue Enhancement and

Business Analysis support for various parts of the US Search Business.

I managed multiple projects like City’s Best, Map Quest, Video DQM, Search

Editorial Project, Yellow Pages, Carroll and Publishing Project, and Catmandu
