On June 30, 2011 I completed an Advanced Post-doc Medical Informatics Fellowship at the VA Boston Healthcare system. Prior to that I was an NRSA Medical Informatics Post-doc Fellow at Boston Medical Center. 

 

I have worked as the Director of Web Engineering for a major publisher, owned my own Web Development Company, built, coded, or worked on 100's of database driven sites or applications with hundreds of thousands of users, including Medical Applications and popular sites like NOVA, The Polar Express, ZDNet, Curious George, PBS, Charlotte's Web and hundreds more.

 

In January, of this year, I officially launched MD Idea Lab, a healthcare innovation company.

Concept: “MD Idea Lab consists of a group of mentors and advisers of Physicians, Informaticists, and Software Engineers connected to the top Hospitals, Universities and Research facilities in the Boston Area. We consult and build healthcare prototypes, applications and websites for the Internet, iPhone, iPad, and Android that improve outcomes and bring down costs.”

 

I came up with the concept for MD Idea Lab in January, 2011, during Fellowship, and had an immediate positive reaction. Over the course of 2011, MD Idea Lab had 17 doctors, business people, and techies helping to develop and work on the concept.  All working for free!

 

Recently, my idea NervCell, a PHR and Web Browser, was accepted into the Venture Development Center (VDC) on the Boston Campus of the University of Massachusetts.  MD Idea Lab and NervCell made such a positive impact on the VDC they invited us to operate MD Idea Lab as a healthcare innovation incubator/accelerator from within the VDC.
