Database Architect/Report Developer

WAND Corporation is the worldwide technology leader in the Fast Casual and Quick Service Restaurant industries. The company has a wide variety of technology solutions, including digital menu boards, point of sale systems, and back office management software.

My role involved migrating entire existing data in SQL Server into MySQL and build Talend jobs and stored procedures to perform the transfer on a regularly basis and build aggregate tables for reporting purpose. Tested MongoDB and Pentaho for possibility of migration of existing systems into BigData solutions.

Responsibilities:

·   Developing various kinds of reports for complete restaurant management – sales, inventory, cash over/short, back office, labor (regular, overtime, etc.) hours.

·   Understanding and re-architecting legacy applications and build procedures to migrate the data flow process

·   Analyzing, maintaining and improving the existing SSIS packages.

·   Creating Talend Data integration jobs to handle data migration from SQL Server to MySQL and handle incremental updates.

·   Mapping the data from old schema in SQL Server to new schema in MySQL.

·   Developed custom Talend components for encrypting and decrypting sensitive data.

·   Load balancing the data transfer jobs by distributing the load on to different servers and maximizing the high performance capabilities and parallel execution of processes provided by Talend functionality.

·   Deployment and scheduling of Talend jobs using script/batch files to transfer and integrate data on hourly/daily/weekly basis and monitor failure and proactively alert support/operations members to take corrective action in the event of failure.

·   Writing several ad-hoc stored procedures (routines) in MySQL for data analysis and reporting projects.

·   Creating Parameterized Reports, Sub-reports.

·   Built reports in Telerik, using SQL Server and MySQL stored procedures as data sources.

·   Documented and maintained database system specifications, ER-diagrams, and connectivity charts using TOAD.

·   Used Pentaho for self-service reports with MySQL as backend database

My role involved receiving Health care – Claims, Enrollment, Membership, Provider data on a daily/monthly basis from various sources and build/update data warehouses make them available to other data analysts and researchers. Create and publish reports weekly/monthly basis for the operations team to track the progress and efficiency of the resources.

Responsibilities:

·   Created several SSIS packages to handle data transfer from various source like Flat File, Excel Spread sheets, SQL Server, IBM DB2 and Teradata.

·   Experience in creating complex SSIS packages using proper control and data flow elements.

·   Created stored procedures, Triggers and user defined functions using joins as required for SSIS packages.

·   Worked with different data flow transformations like Derived column, Data conversion, Look up and Aggregate.

·   Worked on SSIS performance tuning using error handling, event handling, re-running of failed SSIS packages using checkpoints. Used Error paths and Data Viewers to identify data flow issues.

·   Deployed, Scheduled and executed packages and also created SSIS package configurations.
