Manager Embedded Software Engineering / Senior Software Architect

•         Built the production software development and QA teams from 2 to 10 embedded sw engineers, systems engineers, and automation test engineers.  Deployed software engineering development and quality assurance processes to prepare the company to achieve CMMI software certification.

Tula Engine Coprocessor

Engineering Manager

Managed the embedded software development, QA, and Automation testing teams to develop the core Line Monitor (low power wireless – 802.15.4 based) Products.

•         Transitioned the Engineering organization from producing Evaluation units into high volume production of the MM2 product within 8 months.  The MM2 product is still the highest volume product by sales for the company.

Semiconductor company focusing on PowerPC processors in networking, wireless, and consumer markets.

Sr. Enablement Program Manager

Technical and business owner of the PowerPC Partner Ecosystem.  Leveraged relationship and partnership to save internal development costs.  Strategized, planned, and executed plans to ensure that the JTAG and trace tools and third party OS, and proprietary stacks are available on time from all chip bring-up to full production.

§         Represented Applied Micro and established contractor relationships with third party software vendors such as QNX, WindRiver, DENX, Semihalf, and Green Hills and tool vendors to support Applied Micro SOC products.

§         Specified the JTAG and Trace interfaces (PPC, ARMV4, ARMV7, ARMV8 architectures), review / modify the engineering IP specification and single and multi-core SOC implementations, drove the pre-silicon tool development and validation using partner relationships saving the company at least $800K. Ensured that working debug tools were available at chip in house for bring-up.

§         Planned the EVK definition and coordinated the chip evaluation kit bring up and software development schedules with validation and engineering development teams so that the first EVKs are available as early as possible.

§         Defined and drove the Plan of Record for internal software development teams for the delivery of uBoot and Linux BSP, NetBSD, FreeBSD, VxWorks, WRLinux, Android, and proprietary OS such as ThreadX, QNX, Integrity.  Negotiated over $1M of contracts on behalf of APM.

§         Drove the integration with third party peripheral drivers and applications to complete reference designs for Wireless Access points, Network Attached Storage, VOIP residential gateway, and gateway-router markets.

§         Coordinated with marketing on the development and delivery of NAS and Network Gateway reference designs.

System integration company specialized in the delivery of LBS and mobile products and services.

Director Platform Engineering

Technical architect and hands-on manager for the development of the mobile paperless workflow product (http://www.trimble.com/gps-fleet-tracking/WorkFlow-Productivity.aspx) and mobile communication product (http://trl.trimble.com/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-453054/BR_GM_14April09.pdf) in Geomanager.  This product was aimed at Transportation / Distribution vertical segments.  Turn around a 1 year late customer program and delivered the product 8 months after resulting into winning the customer back after 1 year.

Flexform Messaging Platform

·         Developed messaging platform on a Linux kernel wireless router (iLM31xx, iLM4xx) with data replication with a backend server running Weblogic / Apache and exposing SAAS messaging service.

·         Architected the system, researched, prototyped and designed the client application that run on WIN32 and Linux targets. The application was designed to operate in wireless environments and supports guaranteed in-sequence delivery requirements. 

·         Architected, designed, and coded the modules to ensure hardware platform independence, and implemented significantly to the basic functionality of the firmware.

·         Developed the WinMobile prototype application on an HTC Touch using C++/MFC. Successfully delivered the first prototype within 2 months of project start and completed the customer pilot 4 months after first prototype and got the certification from TMW Systems with 3 more vendors in the pipeline.

Firmware Engineering Manager (@Road acquired by Trimble) (June 2006 to October 2006)

Project:  Integration of Sprint IO270 Modem into AVL platform

§         Wrote driver code to communicate between the modem and the application.  Skills:  GSM07.07, GSM07.10, 3GPP TS27.010.

Project:  Satellite Enabled AVL Set-top Box

§         Developed the ppp protocol to communicate between the i31xx set-top box and a Wireless Matrix MBS2 modem.  Technical skills:  Linux, route, PPP protocol.

Mobile Software Manager

Software architect of the Mobile Music ID (audio fingerprinting) for deployment on mobile phones.
