Employment Objective:

To find a suitable network security position in the Silicon Valley area where I can best utilize my talents... a position where I can contribute to advancing the state of security for an organization- acting either individually or as a member of a team, mentoring other team members when appropriate, continuing to learn new security skills, etc. I hope to work in an environment where excellence is valued, teamwork is encouraged, and everyone enjoys working together to get the job done. Continued focus on security projects, as well as operational aspects of network security is very desirable.

Professional Strengths:

-  Seasoned IT professional with over 14 years combined experience… incl 6+ years network security experience (CheckPoint on Sun/Nokia, Cisco PIX/ASA, some Juniper IDS, etc), 7+ years Sun Solaris experience, 2+ years Network Appliance file server mgmt, some exposure to Linux (various revs), and 2+ years in Legato/BudTool backup administration

-  Very enthusiastic about technology and my security profession... I enjoy working on difficult technical problems, implementing proactive security solutions (i.e. project-related work), and really enjoy working with people

-  Have held many customer-facing positions in my career... I know how to handle difficult customers (both internal and external), and how to best represent the company I work for in difficult situations

-  Bring proven diagnostic, operational and project skills to the table, and have a naturally proactive stance in terms of my work ethic and design goals

Educational Info:

-  Attended College of San Mateo (CSM) from 1978-79 majoring in Electronics Technology, received Certificate of Completion (only 3-6 units shy of an AS degree at the time), and held a 3.5 GPA in my major (3.0 GPA including all courses)

-  Have taken several professional courses over the years including classes on CheckPoint FireWall-1, Nokia VPN Appliance administration (NSA), classes on Sendmail and DNS, Sun Solaris administration, Cisco IOS router config, Legato/Budtool backup management, etc

-  Also plan on enrolling in CheckPoint NG/NGX firewall classes… once these classes are complete, I then plan on taking the CheckPoint CCSA/CCSE exams (already have an eval license at home for this software)

-  Have completed taking Cisco CCNA, CCDA and CCSP security classes at Foothill College (evenings)… have also completed CompTIA Security+ classes, as well as some classes on CISSP certification (currently hold a 4.0 GPA in my completed courses)

-  Have already taken the CCNA intro exam at this point (640-821), which covers the first two CCNA classes... and scored a 982 out of a possible 1000 on the exam (passing score is 825)

-  Finally, I’ve been studying for my CCIE Security exam… I’ve completed approx 90% of the self-study, and plan on taking the written exam sometime in the next few months
