        UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA - RIVERSIDE – Riverside, CA

        Security Analyst (August 2014 – November 2014)

·   Responsible for collecting logs and other data from University of California – Riverside, Point of Sale systems.

·   Monitor PoS systems to maintain security and determine potential vulnerabilities which could result in possible data leakage or breach.

·   Research and implement vendor specific SIEM to maintain University PoS systems to PCI and DISA STIG standards.

·   Responsible for using collected data to create logical baseline of events on registers.

·   Research and test vendor approved patches and updates to ensure point of sale devices are as secure as possible.

Technical Business Analyst (November 2014 – Present)

·   Responsible for spearheading projects for University of California Riverside’s Housing, Dining and Residential Services (HDRS) department.

       TKC GLOBAL – Scott Air Force Base – (near St. Louis, MO)

        Systems Engineer II (August 2011 – March 2012)

·   Worked with United States Air Force on the largest Microsoft Active Directory migration in history.

·   Using standard Microsoft Active Directory tools and tools from Quest Software, preparing Active Directory accounts, PCs, security groups, and email accounts to migrate from one domain to another.

·   Troubleshoot account, group, and security and email issues as they arrive in concert with Air Force Help Desk (ESD). This includes troubleshooting Active Directory issues such as permissions, account creation, SID conflicts; also includes troubleshooting various Exchange email issues such as target/source address conflicts, migration of account from legacy to target data stores and some PKI/Email issues.

·   Coordinate and schedule with bases around the world to prepare resources for migration – I’m currently the team lead for Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida and assisted in the migration of Malmstrom AFB in Montana.

·   Train new employees in the use of PowerShell, Quest Tools (including Migration Manager and User Mapping Tool) and float from team to team helping with dirsync errors, PCs switch errors and PowerShell issues.

 

 

UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS – Redlands, California

Systems Manager (October 2009 – August 2011)

·   Manage over 90 Microsoft 2003 R2 and 2008 R2 (64-bit) servers.

·   Research, design and implement a password portal for students, faculty and staff to change passwords or recover passwords that are forgotten.

·   Maintain a Windows Active Directory environment on Windows 2008 Server R2.

·   Maintain an Exchange 2007 Environment. Prior to the assisting in managing the Exchange 2007 environment I worked with a team lead to migrate over 8800 student and faculty email accounts from 2003 to 2007.  Configured connectors and hub server.

·   Managed accounts and user data of both Active Directory and Exchange 2007 using Microsoft PowerShell (exclusively and using the Exchange Management Shell).

·   Responsible for administering Windows backups utilizing Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R2.

·   Administer Windows patches using both WSUS and ScriptLogic’s Patch Authority 7. Researched the University environment, including remote locations, to be design and implement patch solution.

·   Monitor and analyze security reports generated by a Qualys security appliance. Utilizing the results of these scans, I am working with the Network Administrator to implement a mitigation strategy for any security issues.

·   Monitor Helpdesk tickets that are generated in the Track-It system. Resolve issues dealing with email, file permissions, replication errors, printing and access issues.

·   Work with IT staff and faculty to create and maintain proper network security.

·   Coordinate and manage projects as varied as GIS integration to server upgrades and implementation.

·   Testing Virtual Bridges software for deployment of VDI solution to labs and administrative offices.

·   Worked extensively with the Telephone/communications section of my department to successfully implement TapitNova call cost accounting system.

COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE – TLMA, Riverside, California

Help Desk Supervisor (March 2008 – September 2009)

 

·   Manage, mentor and motivate a team of nine User Technical Support staff.

·   Administer and monitor such Helpdesk activities as first level support, assignment of on-site support to technical teams, ticket administration, and preparation & analysis of performance and calls reports.

Computer Systems Administrator / Security Officer (November 2000 – September 2009)

 

·   Supervise day-to-day maintenance and security of numerous Windows 2003 and 2008 Servers; maintain current 2003 Active Directory system including network troubleshooting.

·   Migrated Sierra LMS software from aging HP-T1000 server using HP-UX UNIX 10.20 to more robust and stable HP K-box.

·   Managed the HP-UX print software for all front counters issuing building permits through the Sierra LMS application.

·   Part of two-person team tasked with migrating Agency from Novell Netware environment to Microsoft Active Directory.

·   Researched specifications and implemented EMC, Dell and HP SAN solutions.

·   Responsible for the implementation of ESRI ArcAerial server software. This project included working with ESRI, designing the hardware platform needed to run the software satisfactorily and implementing a NAS solution for storage of two terabytes of aerial data.

·   Designed and implemented hardware and software for deployment of website using ESRI’s ArcIMS software. This project was used to inform the citizens of County Board of Supervisors redistricting after the 2000 Census.

·   Monitor patch roll-outs and servers for suspicious activity; perform network monitoring and forensic investigation of servers and desktop systems.

·   Responsible for writing and implementing an Agency-wide security policy for servers and desktops. This required working with and gaining input from departments as desperate as Human Resources and Code Enforcement.

·   Responsibility for training staff prior to implementation of Agency-wide security policy.

·   Participation in County-wide Security “Round-Table” consisting of all security professional from the various agencies within the County of Riverside.

·   Installed BlueCoat proxy device for the creation of TLMA DMZ as mandated by the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.

·   Responsible for analyzing RFPs of various security organizations for selection of vendor to perform Agency-wide server and network security audit. Also worked extensively with the vendor to mitigate the findings after analysis.

·   Worked extensively with Cisco engineers to implement a Cisco MARS solution.

·   Installed Windows NT 4.0 Workstation and assorted software as needed by county employees.
