Senior Software Developer (April 1995 - February 1996)

Provide enhancements for Orion’s Virtual Integrated Sky Network (VISN), which provides data/voice communications via satellite using Frame Relay, TCP/IP and X.25 communications protocols.  The VISN VSAT’s were developed and implemented using SNMP compliant MIB structures and HP OpenView (HPOV) Network Node Manager to monitor the network performance, configuration, and accounting information.  Design and develop a multi-threaded UNIX based accounting program written using C/ESQL, Ingres, Ingres Reports, BSD sockets, shared memory, SNMP, and TFTP for the accounting department to validate VISN network usage based billing.   Design and develop a multi-threaded UNIX based network download application using C, Motif 1.2, UIMX, TFTP, SNMP, and HPOV API.  Develop UNIX based performance and network usage tool for the beta Pepsi customer using C, SNMP, and HPOV API.  Design and develop an Ingres custom application with a GUI front-end using the Ingres Windows4GL GUI development environment that links into HPOV to provide the network operator with an integrated network management capability.  Setup and maintain three distributed (located in the U.S and U.K) operational/developmental HP 9000 E35 servers in a redundant failover configuration utilizing HP’s SwitchOver/UX software.  Taught a three-day HP OpenView Windows/HP-UX VUE operator training course at Kingston Satellite Services in Stevenage, UK.

Data and voice Security Company.  Main product is the Variable Encryption Intelligence Labeling (VEIL) System which is a roles based access control encryption shrink-wrapped COTS product sold in stores such as Micro-Center and CompUSA. Solely design, code and unit test the VEIL system on Intel x86 based platform running SCO UNIX.  Develop 35 GUI screens, back-end functionality and custom API, approximately 10,000 lines of code using Xt Intrinsics Toolkit, Motif 1.2, and C.  Use System V and BSD domain UNIX socket routines in C to communicate between server and client applications across a 10BaseT LAN running TCP/IP.  Design, code, and unit test the VEIL system in DOS using VB DOS 1.0.  Work collaboratively on C code for key management of VEIL using the Borland C Compiler.  Configure UNIX NFS mount points and e-mail.  Setup user accounts and perform daily backups.  Install network cards, SCSI hard disks, tape drives. 

 

Aeronautical Radio Incorporated (ARINC), Annapolis, MD

Systems/Software Engineer (May 1992 - March 1994)
