Software Development Manager: Lead Oracle GlassFish Server product development team. GlassFish  is one of largest and most successful open-source initiatives in software industry, backed by 40 million downloads in 6 years, with collection of 100+ sub-projects and 1 million lines of code.

-      Lead the delivery of Oracle's next generation of Cloud Application Foundation Platform for Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) providers leveraging Java EE 7. Spearheaded Cloud Application Platform Services (CPAS) project as Engineering Manager as well as initiated project implementation that was in design stage for 8+ months; identified implementation details, created schedule and milestone contents, delivered 3 successful sprints in 6 months. CPAS establishes foundation for Oracle’s Cloud/PaaS solution.

-      As the Engineering Manager, delivered back-to-back versions of GlassFish, 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 to establish Oracle’s commitment for open-source GlassFish application server, delivering releases in spite of increased scope to accommodate new features as well as 800+ quality bug fixes from customers, developers.

ü    Releases provided many ease-of-features and significant performance improvements over competitors like JBoss, Tomcat, IBM.

Staff Engineer & Software Development Manager (2006-2010): Delivered products by providing engineering leadership and interfacing with key enterprise customers. Served as a “Technical Architect” for resolving module-specific and cross-product technical issues. Led approximately 200 engineers throughout EMEA, APAC, and US. Oversaw hiring, staff administration, and project management functions. -     Guided globally dispersed engineering teams of up to 200, delivering following high-quality products on all major operating systems: Sun Java System Application Server 8.1 Update 1, 8.1 Update 2, 8.2, 9.1, 9.1U1, and GlassFish V2.x.

-     Played integral role in sustaining $10M+ in licensing revenue by resolving major issues for GlassFish customer, BMW, during 2 releases that required architectural changes; reached out to companies, including IBM and RedHat, to complete required fixes in time. Helped key enterprise customers of GlassFish/Sun HACTL, Motorola, and ESPN with their deployment and configuration issues, resulting in their continued business license subscriptions with Sun/Oracle.

-     Improved popularity of GlassFish among open-source communities and increased product downloads by 4 million in just 3 months through directing 1^st team in Sun to release product with MySQL; quickly assembled 13-member team of engineers from India, China, and Norway to devise plan and release GlassFish V1U1 with MySQL Community Edition in record 7 weeks.

 

Senior Engineer & Technical Lead (2003-2006): Provided technical leadership for many application server product engineering modules and integrations by working across functional teams assembled for specific purposes. Managed engineering teams of up to 25 members. Represented application server product line in management, customer briefings, architecture, middle-ware engineering, and design meetings. -     Co-developed Multi-Platform OpenInstaller framework, which was open-source initiative with 100+ developers and has been used for writing GlassFish installers since 2006.
