Managed multiple, independent projects for various business segments for the 5th largest airline in the United States with a fleet comprising 354 aircraft, three wholly owned regional carriers and five contracted regional carriers.  Project methodology included Agile SCRUM and Waterfall and projects included the relocation of an Operations Control Center, which controls all aircraft movement for an airline, for a partnered express carrier.  Deployed of a new internal messaging tool and front end trouble ticket tool.  Additionally, sourced a new vendor and restructured project in order to supply a new ACARS (data communications tool for aircraft) tool for a wholly owned express carrier.  Coordinated the efforts of multiple large vendors in order to re-engineer a critical process for providing airside services for pilots.

 

Achievements

Identified a new third party vendor source to provide a new product and services for a US Airways wholly owned express carrier.  This new vendor product was able to provide significantly more functionality resulting in significant cost savings.  Furthermore, this product is currently being evaluated by senior management, for deployment within U.S. Airways mainline services.

Successfully implemented the Sabre products tool suite; operational flight control suite for enterprise, which is comprised of multiple modules for the 11th largest commercial carrier in the United Sates including 22 locations worldwide. Assigned as the project manager to lead an existing, high profile project that experienced an 18 month delay during the pre-testing phase.  This endeavor included collaborating with business leadership, the IT department, and vendors to redefine requirements, develop a feasible testing strategy, and establish a successful deployment plan.  The

process involved uncovering and addressing software performance issues, identifying deficiencies in the VM environment, re-architecting the VM environment, building several standalone database servers, adding load balancing CPUs, and installing an additional server for Citrix. 

 

Achievements

Managed and successfully completed the first implementation of the fully integrated Sabre Flight Control Suite, which included CrewTrac, Dispatch Manager, Load Manager, and FliteTrac Web.  Partnered with Flight Operations to develop redundant backup systems which included automated and manual processes and tested processes for business continuity.  Restructured project to address deficiencies in architecture design, software shortcomings, and user training issues, as discussed above.

Reduced the overall cost of the project by several million dollars.  Successfully completed work scheduled for phase two of the project including high level integration design, supplier and part selection, high level training plans and project plans.  Trained users and deployed application to an additional 100 suppliers with numerous associated specifications for

phase two.  Built an independent UNIX environment for the application that was supported by an Oracle database (9i shared version) along with a intelliDoc server, which was also shared in the UNIX environment.  Since the tool is web-based, its own apache webserver was installed.  Load balancing was required along with a back-up system and development environment.  All hardware was non-standard and was built under tight time constraints.
