Scott & White Hospital – Temple, Texas

Steelwarehouse – South Bend, Indiana

·  Modernized and re-hosted legacy ERP, Aviation, Order Processing, Sales and Human Resources systems for a large steel manufacturer.

Summit Racing – Akron, Ohio

·  Led a project team to help this large automotive parts retailer modernize their internal sales and order tracking systems.

·  Implemented handheld RF tracking devices to track product movement through the warehouse during the fulfillment process and produced the final manifest to Fedx for shipment.

Washington State University System – Seattle, Washington

·  This project consolidated 34 Colleges represented by the Washington State University system into a single database web-enabled application.

·  The consolidated database was composed of over 1500 tables and housed 60 terabytes of data necessary to support the business, student and research activities of the university system.

Python

Python is by far my strongest programming language. I’ve worked with it extensively for ~5 years, and am very familiar with the standard library, and open source ecosystem.

I’ve used Python to build:

·               Small command line utilities.

·               Professional software for large telephony companies.

·               Numerous websites and web services.

·               Open source libraries and tools.

I’m active in the Python community, frequently attend Python events, and work with other Python developers.

Django

I’ve been using Django (both professionally and personally) for the past 2 years. I’ve used it to build web applications for my company, as well as myself, and actively contribute to the Django ecosystem.

What I love about Django is its flexibility, best-practices driven design, and awesome documentation. I’ve personally adopted a lot of Django’s development traits, and the framework has inspired me to become a better developer. Furthermore, the Django ecosystem is enormous, and it’s really nice to use so many great applications written by other programmers.

Ruby on Rails:

Developed content management systems for several clients in Ruby on Rails for advertising producers to manage their portfolios.

-Setup complete development / deployment environment, provided admin functionality. 
-Designed and implemented a web based portal to foster connection and grow audience integrated with Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook API.
-Adhere to a test first approach with a utilization of Rspec.

Ruby on Rails development using edge Rails, RESTful architecture, Rspec BDD in an agile / XP development environment. Responsible for communicating with the customer on a daily basis; planning, designing, implementing, and testing functionality in weekly iterations; and participating in a customer demo weekly.

Upgraded client site from rails 2 to 3.1 asset pipeline seamlessly for end users

§ Created business intelligence dashboard with a visual graphing interface and numerous controls. Made a daily single report page which contained 30,000 different graphs.

§ Developed project plan and implemented a new strategy for an affiliate referral process. Created the PHP & VB .NET components and managed various departments to implement the project.

§ Build a Web Console in PHP 5 and JQuery that connected to a RESTful server using JSON as the datatype exchange language.

Java:

§    Architected, designed, and lead development of the MEC² Integration Project for childcare assistance. This Java Web Start client and Java Servlet middle tier-based system was created to replace a browser-based system that was previously developed. This system is used by both county and state workers in Minnesota to determine eligibility for child care assistance, fight fraud by both families seeking assistance and by childcare providers, and to streamline the process from initial family application through provider payment.

§    The architecture consists of a Swing-based Java Web Start (JNLP) client that serializes objects over an HTTPS connection to a Java Servlet middle tier. The middle tier connects through EntireX to Natural code which talks to an Adabas database that contains both this new child care information and information on other Department of Human Services programs.

§    Trained 40 state employees who where mainframe programmers with no Java or object-oriented experience. These employees were trained in Java, UML, JDBC, XML, Serlvets and JSP's, and Java Web Start part-time during normal business hours over several months. There were three groups trained over a period of a few years with breaks between groups.

§    Mentored the newly trained state employees in Java as they developed the new child care assistance application.

§    Encouraged the use of open-source tools to save the taxpayers' money, including the use of Eclipse, Ant, Tomcat, Linux, CVS, and Subversion.

§    Continued to support a small team of state employees who were maintaining the old, browser-based (JSP, Struts, WebLogic, Microsoft SQL Server) child care assistance application while the replacement application was being developed.

§    Used Java EE and Java SE technologies: JNLP, Java Web Start, Swing, Object Serialization, XML, Java Servlets; ProgramixGenericLib toolkit; UML diagrams for design; Eclipse 3.0, 3.1, and 3.2 for editing; CVS, WinCVS, SmartCVS, CVSNT, and Subversion for version control; and Ant for builds.
