VP of Engineering / Architect: SAS is at the inflection point of growth. As VP of Engineering I established the organizational structure needed to achieve the targeted phase for 2012 and to deliver on a number of small to medium sized projects for large customers such as Honeywell and AOPA. This included establishing the Project Management (Agile based), Development, Test and Release disciplines, in addition hiring resources (internal, contract and offshore), managing budget, and the setup of required infrastructure.

 

Major Contributions:

·         Successfully planned and led the development and architecture of the Seattle Avionics iOS and cloud p Mobile Aviation Platform which spans the cloud and the device, and includes a mapping engine, 3D, Location Services, Flight Planning, Connectivity with third party-devices via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and subscription and API integration with other services. This platform was used in the development of a number of products at SAS.

 

·         Deployed Cloudera’s Hadoop Distribution (CDH4) on AWS and MS/Hortonworks Distribution on Widows (HDInsight) as part of work on the next generation of the platform. Some aspects of the POCs are: using Map / Reduce to optimize flight planning calculation, Leveraging Mahout capabilities to build a recommendation engine, and for classification, forecasting using linear regression, and analysis of streaming data for more real-time results.

·         Lead teams to successfully deliver multiple major EFB products for Honeywell and the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) on both iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android devices. This was done in a SCRUM environment with multiple sprints.

·         Release of AOPA FlyQ to both the Apple AppStore (iPhone), and to Google Play (Android).

·         Developed cloud integration between device monitoring and crash Analytics system (Crashlytics) and bug tracking system.

Principal Development Manager / Director: Led a large global development team (70 FTEs & vendors) in Redmond and India which includes managers, leads & ICs, architects, middle-tier, database and build & deployment professionals. Our systems process $20 billion revenue through the OEM channel. The team is based in Redmond and India, and it includes managers, leads & ICs, middle-tier, database and build & deployment professionals.

 

Major Contributions:

·         Successfully planned and led the development of the new platform for OEM IT which is based on SOA principles and implements the most advanced Microsoft technologies. The new platform which includes one major implementation on top of it, integrates with backend systems such as SAP and activation systems, in addition to interfacing with OEM partner systems, and providing easy to use BI reports and tools (leveraging SSAS ETL & OLAP) both to internal and external customers. This is a $65 million program. Technologies include SOAP, REST, JSON, BizTalk, Silverlight, Entity Framework, WCF, .NET 4.0, SQL Server 2008, Windows Server 2008.

·         Achieved a 12-point improvement in Work Health Index for my organization at Microsoft

·         Achieved significant improvements in Automation, Unit Test Automation & Coverage (and other best practices & efficiencies), and organizational alignments.

Software Engineering Manager: Lead the Technical Infrastructure Group of the GE Centricity Enterprise (CE) integrated clinical / financial product built on the Tandem platform. Extend product’s capabilities by integrating third-party products. Manage 15 software engineers and offshore Quality Assurance resources. Streamline and transform areas including deployment in OSS and in standards development.

 

Major Contributions:

·         Utilizing Microsoft Solutions Framework expertise to implement a clinical flow-sheet system, Web services, Blaze expert system training, e-Prescribing and document imaging system in the first 4 months on the job. This in addition to integrating third party system into the GE product (Centricity Enterprise) based on standards such as HL7, CCOW and leveraging the GE’s Aware Gateway for integrating with medical devices.

·         Led a cross-P&L initiative to consolidate hardware and the server software platforms for multiple GE Healthcare P&L systems. Also, led the initiative to verify CE on the new Blades platform.

·         Led the implementation of Centricity Enterprise at Valley Baptist Medical Center

·         Implemented WSS project portals for a few of the projects I was leading, in addition to developing a System Configurator system which is an expert-system that validates systems configuration combinations. This system is being developed in C#, SQL Server 2008, ASP.NET and LINQ.

·         Managed the Monitored Care team that developed flow sheet medical software which receives patient data from medical devices and used by medical staff to monitor patients.

 

ADGAS / ARAMCO • 2002-2007

Software Development Manager: Managed the Microsoft technology group, leading objectives such as achieving CMM Level 3 within 2 years through the adopted the Microsoft Solutions Framework, agile methodologies such as SCRUM, in addition to implementing Team Foundation Server.

Program / Project Manager: Led the initiative to adopt a new software development lifecycle management, group organization, server architecture and best practices for the Downstream Applications Division’s rollout of the Microsoft Solutions Framework Process and team models.

 

Major Contributions:

·         Architected and led development of e-Bidding system, including integration with SAP via BizTalk and implementing a BPM workflow using K2.NET, SQL Server, ASP.NET, C#, MS SharePoint and LDAP integration, and laid foundation for SOA.

·         Worked with vendor on development of a corporate portal based on SharePoint MOSS 2007

·         Architected and managed from requirement gathering to deployment a major tanker vetting system project that automated the admission of tankers into Aramco ports. Technologies included ASP.NET, C#, VB.NET, Oracle and SharePoint.
